Dores finish strong, peaking at right time of the year. Finished in first place! Next up is the NCAA's in a few weeks
SMYRNA, Tenn. - Vanderbilt capped off a perfect Sunday with a perfect game and in the process captured the championship of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, topping No. 1 rated Arkansas State 4 games to 1 in Baker play.
The 300 Baker, the third in school history, was the culmination of a monster day for the Commodores, who came from way back to beat Maryland-Eastern Shore and then polished off Fairleigh Dickinson to get into the title match.

As they finished 6th and they only take the top 8 it seems like if they had not done so well at the match in Smyrna, they might have missed this year. Unlike most NCAA sports that cut to 8 can be pretty rough.
Hopefully they are peaking at the right time and can win it all but it will be tough. Not sure why but I always smile the Farleigh Dickenson has a bowling team when I think of a bunch of women from the 1800's reading poetry and bowling at the same time.

I wonder if I should admit to watching this very entertaining championship match between Nebraska and Sam Houston State? SHS just came from behind late in game 3 to go up 2-1. This Nebraska group looks less impressive than last years, even though they knocked off Vandy in the process of advancing to the finals...

If the Dores could not get it done at least it will not be a B1G win so I can live with that. I watched part of the finals, but without the Vanderbilt ladies being in it my passion was cooled.
I really believed this was going to be the year for Vanderbilt to add #2 to the trophy case. Not sure what next year will bring and who will fill the new spots. I really want #2 so it will prove #1 was not just a fluke. Depression has set in.
