What if fromms hat gets knocked off and he has to miss a play? Will Kirby go full retard like botch Jones and burn a RS?

Stetson Bennett is getting reps with 1’s.

Not that that means anything in Spring.

Didn't the rule change this year? 3 games and a medical redshirt isn't still needed to hold the redshirt.

I don't remember seeing anything official on this. I just read it on boards.

FIELDS was not the #1HS prospect in the nation for no reason. My kids go to Harrison HS so I have had a front row seat the last two years to the Justin Fields show - he is elite- he is special- I doubt CKS promised Fields anything directly other than to compete - but Fields will get packages of plays for a number of reasons:

1) Fields has some unique skills that Fromm doesn’t possess.

2) Playing Fields some makes opposing DCs have to prepare for both QBs

3) Playing Fields some HELPS the team.

4) Playing Fields keeps him engaged in the UGA program so he won’t hopefully transfer.

Justin Fields talent comp is DeShaun Watson. If he develops at that level, he could take the starting job by 2019. I know Fromm is great, Fields has the higher ceiling.

Also...I don’t remember hearing how Fromm hit a “wall” during Spring practice last year.
Kirby cleared up this comment today:

"Smart did attempt to clear up what he deemed misinformation about Fields when it was reported the former five-star had hit some kind of wall.

“Yeah, y'all really took that and ran with that. I referenced the freshmen and y'all threw it in there like it was just him. That kid is really not like that. He's very intuitive, he's smart, he picks up things well. So, like, that was way out of the water,” Smart said. “When I say "hitting the wall," I mean, there's times where they kind of don't do as well as we'd like them to do. I was really talking about the other freshmen, not so much him. He didn't have his best day after that either. But this week he's been very efficient, made good decisions.”"

I would say Fields comp is more Cam. He looks like a Cam clone

Fields is a much more accurate passer than Cam and is not as big as Cam - no doubt Fields is a little thicker than Watson- but Watson is the better comp.

Based on what, exactly? He hasn't thrown a single pass on college.

Was Cam 3 years removed from high school when he dominated?

I remember UGA beating Clemson with Deshaun Watson (Watson had a good game ).

I hope fields gets a lot of reps. I just don't see it in meaningful game time to start the season. Not this year.

Meansonny,
DeShaun Watson did not come into the UGA game until the very end after the game had been decided in 2014.

We were lucky dabo wasn't smart enough to play Watson more in that game.

This. Watson actually torched us on a TD drive in the first half and was shredding people by like week 4.

Fields can't redshirt regardless. He needs to be playing as much as possible in case something happens to Fromm, even if it's only in garbage time.

There's a very real chance he beats Fromm out, imo.

Not this year. Even with an injury (i.e. 2017 to Eason), Fromm would be given a chance to regain the starting position. People are too dismissive of Fromm's success. Converting 3rd downs and red zone opportunities are the hardest part of being a QB and Fromm makes it look easy. Even if we had Stafford at QB, Fromm would be leading the team.

Not at all. Fromm is a great player. We're talking about a guy that's likely the most physically gifted QB UGA has ever had, though.

It was his first game of his college career. He may have been better than Stout at that point, but I wouldn't be afraid of him. He took some big sacks and failed to convert 3rd and shorts.

That is debatable when you figure Tarkenton, Quincy Carter, DJ Shockley, and Matt Stafford. Hines Ward played QB as well.

Some pretty great athletes have been under center for UGA. I hope Fields is the best. I hope he's as unstoppable as Tebow and Newton. The Herschel Walker of quarterbacks.

But fans have a way of putting unreal expectations on kids. And I'm of the mindset that it isn't fair to the kids. Eason, Stafford, Shockley, and Carter were not elite QBs in their first years despite their talents. Great for a freshman is never the same thing as great.

None of them combined the size, athleticism, and arm talent that Fields has. Whether he puts it all together is obviously yet to be seen.

The expectations aren't fair but are part of the deal. That's what you sign up for in big time sports.
