Rylie Mills their star DLineman is out for the rest of the season and will miss the Sugar bowl. This is pretty big. He's already being named an All-American this season on defensive line by some sources. He had 8 sacks and 9 tfl.

Hope he's ok.

If Georgia Tech can push us around, so can ND's second string DL. Don't read too much into this.

That was their 5th year senior leader, all American, pass rushing DL, so this is a big loss.

No way! ND won’t be able to push us around on either side of the ball.

Tech wanted it more than our guys for some reason.

Georgia had a huge game coming up the next week and Tech had no game coming up the next week. Trap game for Georgia and the Super Bowl for Tech.

Or were they very well rested? Check out their November schedule that was designed by the acc to help them take us out.

We played very conservatively on offense against Tech in the first half. I think Kirby wanted to establish the running game to limit Tech’s possessions. Tech sold out to stop the run and short game. A few key drops didn’t help us either. When we opened it up we scored when we needed to. It worked, but the margin was closer than we planned. I expect ND to do the same thing. Gunner will need to make some intermediate passes early and be effective. I assure you, though, that we will test between the tackles early and often.

Hate to agree with you but, that's probably true. Poorest OL play at UGA in a long time.

I think Kirby told us why. He wanted to establish run and not put ball at risk and let the defense set the tone and field position. It kinda worked, but watching film we saw that it was also a combination of missed assignments and drops that killed drives…which didn’t help the strategy in a number of instances.

I think Becks biggest weakness is he chose to take too much risk throwing down field on 3rd and shorts. Just get the first downs

It’s a huge loss for ND’s defense. And with Beck out, we’ll be relying on the run game more, so that dude’s absence is impactful.

To think it doesn’t matter, is fking stupid.

ND is going to stack the box to stop the run, period. It's what they've done to every team they have played, and they have trusted their defensive secondary to cover receivers in man-coverage, sometimes with a 1-high safety, aka "Cover 1". They have done it successfully and they have future NFL players doing it.

Back to stacking the box to prevent run, it's a numbers game. If we have 5 blockers to 6 or 7 defenders because they trust their D-Backs to cover receivers like flies on shite, you aren't going to have a running game.

Many opposing defenses have been doing this to us for the last 3 or 4 years, and it has become a UGA offense where the pass opens up the run.

Will we be able to do that with Gunner? I have my doubts.

But I'm not fricking stupid.

ND has a one-dimensional offense. If Kirby knows that you can only run the ball, he's finna eat.

I see this as a net positive because we are not a running team this season. I'm not sure what the ratio has been on average but it's got be in the neighborhood of 3 to 1 in favor of passing.

Having the more mobile Stockton could be a plus by rolling Gunner outside the box with run-pass options. This would also give the shorter Stockton better visibility to find open receivers when defenders come up to stop the outside run.
Use Etienne and the TEs to block and then slough off blocks as receiver options. It opens up a whole new set of possibilities compared to a pocket passer offense in which your QB is standing in the box and the defense is loading the box.

Yikes.

How about just taking advantage of Mills being out, their best player not only on the D-line but the entire team, by running it right down their throat to start and that should hopefully set up chances to hit intermediate shots to the TE's and some deep shots off of play action.
