I think he has to put up some gaudy numbers to be ranked any higher. He has the game manager ball and chain around his neck right now. Only way to get rid of it is to put up 3,500 yards or more with 40+ TDS.

Oh ok, I wasn't really thinking about age at all but alright. 2006 stafford was dog crap. 2007 stafford was improved but still left a lot to be desired. 2008 stafford was really good.
So do you also think the same as lewis that stetson is tied for our best QB ever? personally I don't really think the accomplishemnts of the team as a whole should factor into this specific discussion. If that was the case brad johnson would be a better QB than dan marino.

Winning is the most important job of a qb, moreover winning when it matters. Camt be understated Stets 4th qtr, the defense gave him a chance be keeping bama out bit he scored the points when it mattered to give us the lead before Ringo sealed it. We needed points, he got us points.
Marino is a bitter old pitt loser. Took Stafford one year to leave detroit and win a superbowl....
Also, we are talking UGA qb, college qb, not nfl.

But winning is a team effort taht takes all 24 guys to do it. I'm not shite talking stetson eithier don't get me wrong, I just don't think it's logically fair to say he's one of the 2/3 best QBs that UGA football has ever fielded simply based on the fact that the team he quarterbacked won bigger than other teams.
I've often said Murray is the best QB we've ever had and I stick by that, whether I'm right or wrong who knows that's just what I feel personally. I don't really see how anyone could present a rational case that stetson is a "better quarterback" than aaron murray but it seems that's the route you're going.

You be you, I prefer winners.

I love winning. I just think you aren't looking at the topic logically but that's ok. Would you also rather have Thomas Brown at running back over Todd Gurley?

UGA threw for 2,534 yards and 25 TDs in the first half of games last season.
People are looking for year end totals when our offense is up by 15+ points coming out of halftime and we are more focused on bleeding the clock to secure the win and keep our guys healthy.
It is what it is. We threw for 393 yards in the 4th quarter last season (all season).
184 of those yards were in the 4th quarter of the SECCG and NCG against Bama (3TDs).

I'm not saying they're right. I'm just trying to explain/understand why they still consider him a "game manager". The kid's a gunslinger and it shows in my opinion with the time he's given to produce.

Wow that’s a great stat. It just shows how dominant we really were last season. Maybe I’m just a homer or overly optimistic but I like our chances to run through the east and make it to the SEC championship with a shot at a playoff berth. It’s going to be fun to watch and I am so excited to get this season started!

Stet only had to “win” 2 games. He went 1-1 in those games. He won the one that mattered. Learned from his mistakes. God bless him.

All he does is prove people wrong.
I didn't think he could get through the season healthy.
Early in the year, I didn't think he could be that efficient over the top (that TD to Smith changed my mind).
Now, I don't see him as efficient on the goal line (without throwing high balls to Bowers or washington). His sweet spot is 25 to 40 yards out where he can hit vertical windows.
And he will probably throw 15 red zone TDs this season. Just to prove me wrong.

The answer should be who the frick cares?
Oregon wins back to back Natties, my first thought isn’t, “will they finally respect my QB?”

Just playing devils advocate for a moment. That is an insane stay BUT how much of that stat is masked because our O held the ball so often with all of the 3 and outs and prevention of sustained drives? If a school can now go maybe 35 yards and punt and shave off a few minutes vs maybe the 5 play drive that lasted 2 minutes last year before punting, what does that look like?
I think at times we forget (still wickedly efficient last year) how often our boys got to play loose and would have the ball back in 5 snaps.
