Some of you seem to forget that HM played in that Cobb/Cherokee corridor 5AAAAA, and he threw for 4500 yards, 72% completion rate, and 54 TD's with only 10 interceptions in his senior year.

The kid can freaking sling the ball around and pretty damn accurately.

There are a lot of people who "ball out" in HS who flop in college. Same for the transition between college and the NFL.

I've got no doubt that he can throw the ball, but it's a different ball game playing in the SEC week-in and week-out. I hope he comes out slingin' it week 1 (assuming he gets the starting job) and never looks back. He could be good.

I'm still confused on why people are so down on him? Did he not throw for over 300 yards in both starts?

I'm just not sold on him being automatic for 2014. I think he did a good job in in his 2 starts, but he didn't blow my skirt up or anything. He looked like a deer in the headlights for the first halves of both of his starts, but turned it on late. I'm excited about what our defense can do next season with the coaching changes but I don't want to trust our defense to stop teams long enough for our QB to figure out where he is.

It's also not that I don't think he's good enough to be the starter, but that we've got some serious talent at that position. I want the best guy for the job on the field. The obvious choice (to me) right now is HM, due to his experience and time with the program, but I'm more excited to see what the other guys can do.

Remind us again, please. GT? You could even throw for that much against them... same for Neb...

Nebraska was a top 40 D in passing D and have one of the better CB's in the draft on their team.

The first problem is that people are expecting HM to be as good, if not better than AM, however if that were the case he would have played more and there would have been some
Competition in spring ad the fall, but there wasn't!! AM is going to be missed next year, all HM has to do is run the ball effectively, set up play action pass for big pass plays (making sure he connects on his opportunities), and he must protect the ball and avoid turnovers. Fingers crossed that our oline provides some help or it will be a long season. The younger guys are not quite ready to take the staring role
Yet., but they better prepare like it's their turn, one big bit on HM and we may see how ready BR or FB really are.

I hope he doesn't struggle, because that would mean problems for the team. However, he looked lost more often than not out there...and don't give us any of not playing crap. For someone as experienced and deserving as they are saying on here, he shouldn't be running around like a deer in headlights, failing to make easy reads, etc...

I say Ramsey. I would be surprised if FB doesn't transfer soon.

Because he's the starter. It's college football fan 101 that you always believe the backup you've never seen play is better than the guy the coaches put out there.

I still remember when fans had never seen Mason play and were pissed that Murray was getting the start over him.

I felt all along that we should try to get more playing time for HM whenever we could to make sure we did not get into the predicament of not having game time experience for the backup.

I feel like there were a lot more opportunities this year than last but Murray was left in for STATS purposes (IMO only).

I can see how all those landslide victories we had this past season afforded Mason plenty of playing time.

Ok, one case specifically . . . I would have pulled Murray earlier in the Kentucky game even though it was Senior night etc. he had a Senior night last year when going pro was still a possibility.

It will be really low and scumbagish if Richt were to pick someone else over Hutson Mason while he has been waiting to play for so many years. It will create bad chemistry. Mason deserves to play every game next year. His dream is to play as a QB for UGA and instead of transferring he chose to stick with UGA. Mason is more qualified to play than either Faton Bauta or Brice Ramsey since he had the most exposure by being with the team the longest. I will lose all respect for Richt he he picks someone else.

See I dont understand this type of thinking. Yeah so what he waited 4 years to play, but if these other qbs are better than Mason, then they should start, PEROID! Especially, when you look at our future. If HM is going to be an avg qb, then we need to start a freshman like we did with Murray and Stafford (yeha I know about Joe III), and let them develop.

If we just give Mason the qb job b/c he has 'waited', then what about the other positions where people has waited and still didnt get to start their SR year? Why does QB get special treatment?

WIth all that said, if HM comes out in spring and fall and wins the job, then so be it, but to say he deserves it over the other qbs is asinine. Whats up with all this entitlement crap?

Too true. I had hoped the UGA fans on here were past that.
