We started the game more trying to go after the little gaps and their LBs and lineman were very agressive attacking them. To make up for their LBs being so tight and agressive, I assume, their DBs were playing back. Basically, on a lot of plays, it looked like Clemson was selling out to keep from losing the game between the tackles and they hoped their ends could contain the edge. That obviously didnt work too well.

Now THAT excites me. I am anxious to see what we can do when we let it all hang out. I'm a little nervous about Marshall, but Michel looks very good. It seems Marshall has had a tough time getting untracked due to injuries, etc.

Marshall has always struggled to run between the tackles without really good blocking. His entire career he's never been one to really break tackles; he might fall forward but he's not the one to shrug off a hit and get an extra 5-6 yards. He looked even more tentative running inside the box against CU (which is to be expected), which is why I think they need to utilize his speed on the outside in 1-on-1 situations.

I agree about being excited about this, O, though. We have a TON of weapons to exploit, especially when Mitchell and JSW are back. Even if Mason is only adequate, they should make him look damn good.

Agreed. We are going to have to throw some swing passes and screens to get him the ball in space. We NEED some production from him to take a little heat off the rest of them....particularly Gurley and Chubb. I wouldn't really have a whole lot of problem with them putting him in the slot, but I honestly don't know if that is the solution or not.

U are right crispy the best thing about that Clemson game is we didn't have to open our playbook up in the second half. We didn't give spurrier much to look at offensively or defensively

There are times when raising a number exponentially results in a lower number. This is one of those cases.

This is true, but they know our offense fairly well.

My question is this: Do they have their "Willie Martinez" in Ward?

Willie did okay with CVG talent for a couple of years then went to shite. Ward has done okay with Ellis Johnsons talent, including Clowney. Now they're both gone and his defense looked pretty bad. Gotta play more games. Just something to watch.

For the first time in a long time their defense - particularly the line and the secondary - aren't intimidating in the least. That may change since Spurrier seems to get the best out of that team for our game but it looks promising right now.

I think ward benefitted from having a bunch of nfl talent and now it's showing when u lose that many players. The tackling was awful in that game and I don't see that changing in a two week period. The Texas A&M running back had a ton of success running the ball and I hope we can do the same
You are right Spurrier knows our offense but there will be a few wrinkles we will see next week that will be new

Isn't Mark Gelbhart the guy that said Richt should be fired, and also may or may not buy cocaine at the gay bar off Prince Ave?

By the way...

In a game where UGA only threw the ball on 3rd and long, and there weren't a hell of alot of 3rd and longs, Mason only threw for 130 yards with a 69.2% completion percentage.

Let that sink in for a second.

He only threw for 130 yards.

I know that looks like peanuts when Kenny Hill just did what he did, but...

130 yards, to 9 different receivers, 69% completion percentage...

I really don't know why people are worried about Mason.

Mason's training is complete.

But only 5.0 yards per completion.

The comments from players always reference his arm strength - even the compliments: "“He just has a very quick release and he has a stronger arm than people gave him credit for coming out of high school." (Lynch - end of last season)

If Mason puts up 300 yards, 60%+, 2 TDs, and 0 INTs at South Carolina with the hostile crowd and techno music, my concerns will be alleviated.
