I think he attacks the area over center to open the edge, much like the option it ties up resources to stop the between the tackles runs.

Just re-watched the GA-FL game. I counted the RB runs only.

We gained 20 yards in 19 attempts running inside.
We gained 79 yards in 12 attempts running outside (13 for 119 yards had not LANDERS held on the TD run).

If Smart is dead set on running the ball, he needs to attack the whole line of scrimmage, not just that little area over the center.

This is my point

Is it possible the edge attempts were so successful because of all the inside attempts?

I'm still of the mindset that we go to the party dressed to kill.

Even if that's true the numbers dictate you didn't run outside enough if you have that much more success on the outside. Don't complicate it. Make them prove they can stop the thing that continues to work.

Bama isn't running 25 slants and hitches a game because the plays are good luck. They're doing what continues to work.

That fake toss was a play of beauty that fatty ran in the SEC championship game. Fromm faked the toss to Chubb I believe but then threw it to a open Nauta. I think the toss can keep teams honest if u run it with a few fakes.

So is the fake handoff out of the shotgun.... Read option, play action, wing T, option... they all work on deception and respect of the dive.

Watching the Cowboys/Vikings. Vikings are successfully toss sweeping all over the field.

guess it comes down to where you learned it, but a toss sweep always had a FB kicking out on the edge and the receiver(s) blocking down
