A one loss conference champ in USC gets in. Might as well book it. Not saying I agree but they will.
1 point loss to at time ranked Utah on road.
Main thing would be 3 ranked wins back to back to end season and a conference championship.
The WANT a west coast team in. They will make the arguments to make this happen.
Undefeated TCU in. OSU in.
The argument would be between Clemson, LSU, Georgia.
LSU would have just beaten Georgia and be conf champ with a 7 game win streak. It allows the argument to be made for LSU.
Clemson’s one loss to ND @ND doesn’t look as bad with ND playing better. They would be conference champ.
All that said..again..I don’t think USC makes it out. I think TCU has a strong chance.
We better just win and not play with chance.

The bad news about Tennessee getting shelled from orbit by USCjr is that the articles extolling the virtues of the 12 team playoff would keep teams like the Vols in the conversation.
All that does is water down games like yesterday.

Clemson lost to a 3 loss ND team, they aren’t going anywhere

I believe the committee would still put us in over LSU. When you put the two teams side by side, LSU would have one more loss, LSU lost at home to a team Georgia throttled at full strength, LSU lost against a garbage FSU team. Unless its a complete throttling at the Benz, I would argue that Georgia would still be ahead of LSU in the final rankings with a close loss.
Here is what I see happening.
1. UGA (SEC Champion)
2. Ohio State (Big Ten Champion)
3. TCU (Big 12 Champion)
4. Clemson (ACC Champion)
TCU has a joke schedule remaining, they will finish it.
Oregon will beat USC in the PAC, USC out
Clemson will also win out, maybe barely, but get in.
Final Rankings
1. Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. TCU
4. Clemson
5. Michigan
6. LSU
7. Oregon
8. Alabama
9. USC
10. Tennessee

Also think Texas beats TCU.
TCU already beat Texas. TCU is probably going to play KState in the championship game.

I think we’re in no matter what.
You cant give all these other teams a break for their losses and then punish the season long #1 team more for a loss. I mean , they have 2 loss LSU at #6 right now. And they could be at #5 or even #4 by the time we get to ATL
This is exactly right. Beat Tech convincingly, we are in.

Think of it this way….
If Georgia were to lose to LSU, there would only be potential for two undefeated teams left. So, lets assume those two teams, OH state and TCU are in.
So only two spots left now.
And only four 1 loss teams eligible to fill those two spots…..
1) Georgia: Viewed as best team in nation by committee nearly all season. Played in confrence championship. Loss is to #5 LSU.
2) Michigan: Did not play in conference championship. Best ranking by committee was #3. Lost to #2 OH State in regular season.
3) USC: Lost to shite arse Utah in reg season. Best ranking by committee is #7. Conference champions of shite as pac 12
4) Clemson: Lost to shite arse Notre Dame in reg season. Committee barely has them in top 10. Champs of shite arse acc.
Theres no way any of these three teams would get a playoff spot over Georgia.
The argument would be about who gets the fourth spot. Michigan, USC, Clemson, or LSU
Correct

LSU should get the spot in this scenario having just beat UGA.
No, wrong

If undefeated UGA loses a close game in SECCG. They are in. No matter what.

Crazy to think that this will only be the second time in the history of the playoff where Alabama wont be included.

Coach with the third most playoff appearances would be Lincoln Riley with 4. If he can get USC there this year, he’d have a chance to take his playoff record to 0-5.

We just won two consecutive SEC road games. This has only been done in the past 5 or so years by the 2019 LSU and 2020 Bama teams. That alone places us in very good company.

Jesus Christ.
The Dawgs are in whether they lose the SECCG or not.
Some of you people just love being miserable.

Let's remember also in all of this that LSU lost at home, to a UT team that just gave up 63 to a SCAR team in one of the most historic upsets of all-time. SCAR beating UT like they did was not good for LSU.

A lot of what if scenarios right now. I think order will be restored to the world with the next two games and the final four will make a lot of sense and without much controversary.
