What a wild conclusion to make from my post.

My point is do the practices in fall practice and the weeks before the UAB game not matter? Because those apparently lead to Kirby calling Beck the #2 QB to the media.

It just seems odd to me to let one practice decide a decision like that. I think it more likely for Kirby to get pissed at Beck for leaking the decision, as Kirby hates info like that getting out.

But I'm just speculating.

Well... they only do about 3 practices until they focus on walk throughs.
Those 3 are pretty important to getting the gameplan in. You shite the bed in the first one when you have zero previous success to support keeping the job and they opened up 1st string on bloody Tuesday. It obviously wasn't 1 bad practice that week. It was 1 bad practice that created a need for split reps with the 1s. Stetson won the job on bloody Tuesday and Wednesday. Beck lost confidence by the coaches on Monday.

Do with this information whatever you want. 1 practice. 3 practices.
But know... nothing is more important than practice and handling adversity in the coaches' eyes.

They take practice seriously but Kirby said he asked Monken if he was sure that Stet was third string. Monken said without live tackling in a real game he couldn't be sure. I want to see 3 QBs play in real games before settling on one of them.

I wonder how much Stockton’s running the scout team (with no black shirt) against the 1s in live action plays into it

I don't remember that last line.
And it doesn't sound factual.

JT was the starter spring, summer, and fall camp. The question was about 2s/3s.

Outside of the last line, everything sounds correct, and was a question from Kirby to Monk before the season.

That last sentence was from me, not Monken.

Meansonny said: Beck didn't lose the job because of his dad's social media account. Beck had a bad Monday of practice

but isn't it off that they made such a quick decision based on one bad practice?

K9, I can say this from personal experience. A buddy of mine signed with Tennessee, and we kept up with each other to see what kind of progress we were making. He was running with the second team as a freshman and had one bad practice. They knocked him down to 3rd string. Now, I never saw something like that happen, so I don't think it is a common thing, but it does happen. Coaches put a lot of stock into every single practice. That said, it can be used to discipline a player, and can be used to motivate a player. There are a lot of ways bumping a player can be used by the coaching staff.

This is nearly impossible to do. I've never seen a team go into a season and play three different QB's to determine who wins the job. Maybe two? but more often than not they make the decision based on practices and then if the QB struggles in the game they might replace him in the game or the next week. I am not trying to be on anybody's side and not tooting Meansonny, but it does sound more like a question involving 2s and 3s. They might hold off deciding that until they have been seen in a game.

With our schedule next season, we should get to see a good amount of two of them, if not all three.

No doubt, but one will be the clear #1, and the other two will probably be fighting it out for #2 and #3. It was and has been a very rare thing when we see three different QBs in one game. It has happened, but not very often at all.

Making judgements based on practice is how a Heisman finalist like Stetson is miss rated as third string.

He was rated long before he came to Georgia and practiced.

Yes, but his play in games, not practice, thanged things. Players don't get big adrenaline surges on the practice field but they do in games. Adrenaline causes some players to play much better but it causes others to screw up.

I mean true. But if you don't perform in practice you aren't going into a game. Or not starting anyway. So, if you aren't performing in practice you better ball out in the little time you have on the field.

And you are right. It was his play in the games that got him his starts. But the only reason he got into the games (as a starter) was because of injuries. They didn't throw him out there to see if he could handle it. Injuries to our other experienced QBs forced their hand. The inexperienced guys didn't know the offense, and Bennett did. So...he was the next man up, due to injuries.
