Birdie!

Has the outright lead now. onward

Edit1 (so it doesn’t look like I’m trying to bump own thread):

-he’s got a birdie putt coming on 18 for 2 shot lead, sons

Edit2:

-oh no!!
-missed the birdie which is fine but then missed the gimme par
-I’m sorry but he’s done this week
-you don’t come back from that
-will haunt his nightmares for life

Edit3:

-I may have overreacted
-but giving that away on the last putt is going to be a major psychological obstacle

Still pulling for Henley, but Im also on the Richard Bland wagon now.

Dude played euro busch league tours his whole life and finally won his first european event at age 47 . Which is what qualified him for Torrey Pines. Now he shares the lead at a major on moving day. And i think to myself……what a wonderful world

AHHHHHHHHHHH

Edit 1: things are getting crazy. You can almost feel gimtocks presents

Edit 2: hearing some “Go Dawgs!” yells after Henley shots. All the way out there in the soviet socialists republic

Those trailing Henley are falling off but he’s currently in the bunker. A par here and he’s good to go.

Both of these guys are going to have a hard time sleeping tonight. Henley just needs to get in the clubhouse.

Theres a pack of absolute assassins on Henleys arse within striking distance. He needs another birdie coming in to send a message imo

Tomorrow shaping up to be awesome. I hope Henley holds it together but he was grinding this afternoon and Sun in the Open is crushing.

Since they finished the 3rd round before him, Hughes and Louie will be in the final pairing. Henley will have the crowds surrounding him playing in the group ahead of the other two, with Rors.

Just doesnt seem like a fair way to do the pairings.

Henley has led or co-led all three days, but loses his spot in final pairing??

If thats how they decide pairings, that would mean he’s actually bing penalized for earning his spot in final group on Saturday. I dont like it.

Tour pairs on the first in last out philosophy. Rewards guys making a charge.

For me, it’s an advantage to not be in the final pairing. Less eyes on you. In this case, that isn’t true because of who Henley is paired with (Rory, who is a fan favorite). But, I expect Henley to be solid today as he has been all week. It’s gonna take 68-69 to win it IMO.

The final pair are the only ones that will know the number they need to beat in advance though.

With how tight leaderboard is currently it doesnt really matter at all. But if it comes down to the 18th tee its a major advantage to know youre a shot down, or tied, or if you know youre a shot ahead. It changes the way most would play the hole. (Obviously not including Mickelson and his boneheaded choked US Open opprtunity)
