Honest question here
What would a new arena need to have to make it better than the renovated Stegman?

The arena is not the problem.

Stegman was just fine night in night out when Harrick had us rocking.

Honestly, just a better location. Stegeman isn’t all that walkable from anywhere else on campus. Even the dorms and ECv can be a hike. Downtown would make it an attractive venue just because of the proximity to other goings on (if you’ve been to an Ice Dawgs game, it makes for a fun set up to get dinner, walk over, and then hit the bars after).

But as far as the concourses and interior go, stegeman is surprisingly in pretty good shape after the work that was done. It’s not the nicest arena in the league but it’s no longer the worst either and it actually looks decent from the outside unlike some other places

Agree with this. We are competitive in football because we have a coach who is bringing in top talent. We are not doing this is basketball and baseball. I don't expect national championships in all 3 top sports but I do expect us to be competitive in each of those sports.

And we also have upgraded the facilities in FB to some of the best in the SEC.You don't think the new IPF helps in recruiting?
Why do you think there's facility arms race at every big 6 SEC school?

We're also lagging behind SEC rivals in both basketball and baseball facilities.

Not so much in basketball but certainly in baseball.Metro Atl and specifically East Cobb and Gwinnett travel ball is producing LOADS of MLB talent. If
SC can become pretty much a annual NC contender there s no excuse at all for us.

We have good football facilities but we are still behind a number of programs (Bama and A&M immediately come to mind). The IPF is nicer than most but at the end of the day it's just another big warehouse with a football field in it. Having it only brought us up to par with everyone else. Wouldn't be surprised if in the next 10 years they eliminate the upper grass fields to expand and remodel the weight room (which, despite another recent renovation, is still middle of the pack).

As for Sanford, let's just say the west endzone renovation should help a whole hell of a lot. Until then, UGA has had arguably the worst stadium locker rooms and recruiting space in the conference.

We're doing fine in basketball at this point. The Coliseum practice facility is still relatively new and in good shape and while it's not UVA's palace, Stegeman with the new renovations is good enough. Like UVA, though, we need an actual legit coach to bring in legit players and to start winning.

Baseball facilities, on the other hand, are woefully neglected and have been a major point of anger and frustration for me for the better part of 10 years. The locker rooms are decent enough now and, woo hoo, there are club seating options. But the rest of Foley has either been ignored or mismanaged and turned into a hodge-podged dump. They "fixed" Kudzu Hill by making it a single tiered booster's garden and have gone out of their way to block the green and brick houses which are the primary features that make it a unique college baseball atmosphere. Foley should be the Fenway of college baseball: not the biggest stadium but the most unique for it's unorthodox dimensions and location on campus. Instead, it's just a glorified softball stadium.

Not sure for your downvote but you’re spot on. We literally have some of the worst facilities out of the elite teams in the country. Those who believe otherwise have either: Never seen the insides (I have because I’m good friends with Jeremy Price) or are fricking idiots trying to be confrontational and slobbering on their keyboard.

I would be curious as to his thoughts about Mark Fox as a coach.

Don't know if that was intentional, but wow.

Our training facility is as good as any other I've seen and better than most. I'm not seeing what the problem is with the Coliseum Training Facility. Looks great to me, with separate facilities for men and women. What's so bad about them? Secondly, we're not one of the elite basketball programs in the country, and never have been.

If you're talking about Stegeman, that is not why we're not performing to the level we want. We've sunk what, 40 million into that place and it's a nice place to watch a game. Is it a great basketball arena? No, but it is not the trash heap some of you claim.

Not at all. Wish they would play with more pace and Fox would let them run more. Got to find a way to get more transition scores. Can’t just rely on set offense everytime down the floor

Our offense is just so bad game in and game out. Four points in the first eight minutes is just embarrassing.

Agreed! Why is Mike Edwards still playing? He has no business getting minutes. Brings absolutely nothing to the table

Thank goodness our recruiting class is saving me from melting down over our dumpster fire of a basketball program.

1 NCAA win in 20+ years. What an absolute embarrassment.

It's almost like you've never seen a UGA basketball game in your life.

Cut it to one, and then just went on another dry spell. Unfortunately we have an elongated one of those every single game. Just tough to have zero depth. Could tell Yante got tired, and we have no one to come in, or at least no one we trust to do so.

It feels like guys have no confidence either. Everyone is on the short leash. Some games Tyree gets 15 minutes, others he gets 3. Hammonds now gets 5 a game after starting by getting 20. I just don't get it.
