Yeah I don't see how this abortion of a game can be spun in a way that makes Fox look like anything other than an incompetent buffoon. I'm bringing back the FireFox avatar.

One of the hold out Fox supporters. Our basketball team could be top 25 yearly. It all just takes the right coach. This dumb frick WASTED Matens career at UGA

So we just blame the players for not being very good even though they proved that they were actually pretty good in the first half? We just give a pass to the adult in the room making a 7 figure salary who is supposed to be in charge of recruiting and training the players and controlling the emotions of a game THAT THEY LED BY 15 POINTS AT HALF when they do everything short of actually dropping their shorts and taking a shite on the floor. Nope, can’t blame fox that the guys he is paid to lead suddenly forgot at halftime how to play a game he decided we should give them a full scholarship to play.

Dude you still think Fox should be here? Look at the football team. If you want to be better you can't be afraid to make changes
Posted on 1/20/18 at 7:16 pm to td01241
the football program is not the basketball program, never has been, and never will be.
im ok with making a change if we can get the right guy. i don't really know who that is. we arent the type of program that should make a change just to be making a change, and we definitely can't afford to take any steps backwards.

The basketball program could be close. If Football has taught us anything if you want to win big you can't keep good but not great around forever, and Fox isn't even good. He's been here long enough. Idk who to target either. Some young coach of a small school who has them playing really well that we feel will stay to build someone here. If they deliver good teams with tourney runs fan support and money will come

Well that's just absurd.

Whoever the coach is...they have to find a way to make another Guard show up as a scorer consistently.
Some games it’s been Turtle, others it’s been a jordan Harris and at random times it’s been Tyree Crump but nobody consistently.
3 guys in double figures, we out rebounded them by 9, a 14 pt lead at the half and we lost by 14. U.N.-freaking-real!

What about once?

No... you don’t hire from a small school. Fox has at least created a stable footer in Athens. Go after some big fish... Money speaks volumes. USCe threw it at Frank Martin and it seems to be working out. Pearl at AU... you aim low with low expectations... expect the worst.

Personally, I liked the style of play at UMASS but Matt McCall would use us as a stepping stone to a larger program.
I wish we would be more aggressive defensively and deny the pass more. We struggle so bad offensively against that style of defense.

So what? It's better to win with a guy primed for a blue blood job than be what we are.

We don’t want to be that program. We want to be where someone would use us as a destination job from a stepping stone.

You either want to be a winner or you don't. You don't sabotage your program out of fearing the coach will leave if he builds a winner. Look at uf after Lon Krueger as why.

I missed the second half, so I am not exactly sure what happened, but it appears criminal that Yante only had 7 shot attempts in a game where he was covered by a guy who was 6-3.
Still not on board with firing fox yet, and find it funny that so many of our fans only come out when we start to struggle or lose. But at the same time I do understand the frustration and hope one day we're able to recruit the talent that gets us to that next level.

I guess many of our fans come out quite often then.

Tell that to Florida pre-Donovan.
Oklahoma is a football powerhouse and in a place where they shouldnt be very good in basketball. They bring in the right coaches, and more often than not, are a good team.
How about Auburn before Pearl? He has them ranked, and their program is worse than ours all time.

We have a habit of handcuffing ourselves for fear of failure if we leave the comfort of home. Have we made progress under Fox? Undoubtedly. Should we demand more? Undoubtedly. They said a wall couldn’t be built around the state of Georgia in football recruiting until Kirby did it. They said UGA couldn’t make it to a national championship in year 2 until Kirby did it. So why can’t we expect more out of basketball? We’ve made a Final Four in our history. We’ve won the SEC tournament less than 10 years ago.
While the Bama model works for football, I don’t like it for athletics overall. I want Georgia to be good in everything that it does, not just the stuff we have a history in. And if some people don’t care about anything but football then that’s fine, you don’t have to participate in anything else this university does for 8 months out of the year. But I want to see us win. It’s good for the state, it’s good for the university, it’s good for the the city of athens.

I think we definitely need to expect more from our athletic department, and from our coach, but I also think we need to expect more from our fans. I understand how a lot of people are front runners, and that's fine. But I want us to be a program that wows kids when they come to visit because of the passion and energy of our fan base. Our fans are more likely to go to football games when Kirby or the football team show up vs. wanting to watch the basketball team succeed.
And maybe that comes with a new coach, and a newfound energy in the program that seems to have become stale.
I don't know. I guess I just wish we cared more.
