Pretty easy to name most of the NCAA winners this decade, and probably century imo.

Duke's won 3 times
UCONN has won twice
Melo won it for Syracuse
Florida went back to back
North Carolina won with that stacked team
Cal won a couple years ago at Kentucky
Nova last year

Thats just off the top of my head. If I really wanted to think about it, I could probably get the rest.

The NIT? Didnt little Pitino go back to back with Minnesota a couple years ago? I think Bama won it recently. Other than that? I have no clue.

Forgot UCONN won it a 3rd time eight years ago
Totally for Kansas. Would have remembered if I actually thought about it
Maryland, totally forgot
Louisville, forgot
Michigan State in 2000. Thought they won it in 99, but that was UCONN.

I got the others right. I think I did pretty well.

George Washington won the NIT last year. Had no clue.
Minnesota did win it a couple years ago.
Stanford has won it twice in the past 5 years.
Baylor also won it 5 years ago.

I'm disappointed right now too. It fricking sucks JJ cant go out playing in the tourney. Believe me, I wanted the Fox haters to eat their crow tonight. I'm bummed. And youre right, its not a good thing. We did have two great players, idk about being projected as a lock for the tourney though. We also had some terrible luck, I know it is an excuse, but it happened multiple times. if JJ makes a couple of big shots, and Malik Monk doesn't turn into a hero, we might be in the tourney. And in the big picture, we still have a chance to do something the program has never done, and the overall quality of the program IS improving, so there is some silver lining.

I just like pulling for Fox and being optimistic for the growth of the program.

And hell I was bitching about the 2016 season in football. Who can name the last 5 Liberty Bowl winners? If we go 7-5 next year....SEIYGE

But that is due to the football program having vastly different expectations. Due to obvious factors, that I have already posted about before.

That's the best you've got, County dawg? Lol

Melo won it at Syracuse over a decade ago.
Most of what you mentioned was from over a decade ago.

Everybody knows Nova won it last year. Name who won the last 5 in order without researching it.

Sumter, you prove my point by just responding to a post.

The people that want fox fired are the same people that want to change or colors to piss orange and smokey gray.

Seriously, I haven't seen a fan base turn in its program like this since UT. That's exactly what we will turn into if they have their way. Their football program was competitive every year for the SEC and now they are a laughing stock. Their basketball program was one of the tops in the conference and now look at 'em.

It would be appropriate if you made this your avatar.

I did after I made the post. To take it further, this week across the country people will be streaming 3 vs 13 seed games they have zero connection to while they're in class or at work. Nobody is doing that for the NIT.

I mean I cant say honestly that this year wasnt a disappointment.

With Fox though, for some reason the people that want to fire him, won't admit that the AD is not fully supportive of the program, and that hinders his ability to do his job.

Is he a great coach? No. But he does a good job with what the AD gives him, imo. If firing Fox meant we would actually commit to making the bball orgram relevant and a priority, then I would do it tonight. But until that happens I will be rooting for him to succeed here.

That's because the bracket challenge not the fact that they genuinely care about the tournament.

Good one, props to you for that comment about my avatar. Yours should be a shim that is inbred.

It definitely was a disappointment and it started with Clemson. Certainly was at Oakland, Marquette, A&M, Bama at Home, fla on the road, etc. actually I was pretty impressed that we even kept the game close at Florida but we dang sure should have won.

I am totally fine with some having the opinion that we should get rid of fox. I, 110%, disagree and that's okay. It's okay to disagree. I hate to see people rooting against our team and their success and most of the people that post on here hate Mark Fox and the players he has brought in that so much that they root for failure so there will be change.

Well you'll be delighted to find out that everybody here is rooting for the team.

That's extreme. Fox has been a good representative of UGA and does things the right way. I would really love for us to win something of note with Fox, but it's fairly obvious that isn't going to happen. I think most people who want to move on from Fox would share that sentiment.

Comparing our basketball program to the football program is some pretty solid lulz.

Also, the number of Fox haters outnumbers the fox supporters that actually post here probably 3 to 1.

I don't hate Fox but he's a below average coach and should be fired. He is an average game day coach, horrible recruiter. He's maxed out in Athens, so I don't know why anyone would support him as coach. Some will say firing Fox could set the program back, but are okay with the alternative of being average. Nothing to lose IMO.

In order since 2000:

Mich St, Duke, Maryland, Syracuse, UConn, UNC, UF, UF, Kansas, UNC, Duke, UConn, Kentucky, Louisville, UConn, Duke, Villanova

I couldn't name one NIT winner correctly in the same timeframe.

It was about expectations but it looks like that went over your head.

I like Coach Fox as a person. And I was/am hoping like heck he'd be an outstanding coach for us. But we've given him every chance and more and he hasn't/can't win like he needs to here. Even when he has two first team All SEC players on the team.

In all seriousness, when is the last time an SEC team has had two All SEC first teamers and gone .500 in SEC play and failed to make the NCAA Tournament?

That's coaching - or lack of it. We owe Fox nothing at this point. We've made him a multi millionaire and given him more than a fair shot to make it work at UGA. He hasn't gotten it done.

Now, I'll be rooting for him again next year and hope like heck he'll have that break through season. I have no choice, since he'll be the coach and I love UGA.

But my expectations will be exactly what they were this season - we'll be just good enough to miss the NCAA and hope for a home game or two in the NIT.

We can do better. Fox has had his chance (again and again). Time to make a change, imo.

I guess there's really not a lot to lose if we keep Fox for next year. Our only "star" will be Maten, who will be in his final year.

If we keep Fox and he has another season like this one, we've wasted Maten.

But, if we can Fox and hire a new coach, we likely spend a minimum of a year middling until we start improving (IF we start improving), so we waste Maten that way too.

May as well give one last crack with a star player he recruited. If the rumbles within the AD are as loud as rumors insinuate, Fox's leash is almost non-existent right now.
