.....That's when the 13 supreme beings......of college football's new all-knowing Playoff Selection Committee will release their first Top 25 poll......The poll that will eventually decide who plays for an MNC.

Looking at the schedules, the poll will come out just prior to the WLOCP. And I'm wondering where the all-knowing 13 noble Deities of the panel will rank us if we happen to be undefeated at that point.

The supreme beings are vowing not to take any preseason rankings into consideration.........but is there any doubt that they will put us at the end of the line behind the Florida States, Bamas, Ohio States, Oregons, and whatever the flavor-of-the-week cindarella team happens to be if they too are undefeated?

What a clusterfrick...........

Without a doubt if those listed teams are undefeated, we'll be behind them

Even though that means we'd have beaten ranked Clem and SC

Well it is, always has been (as the thunder rolls outside my house), but outside of waiting until the 4th week or whatever, I don't see an answer. People love rankings. That is the bottom line.

Are they gonna use the computer formulas as a guide or just go with their gut feelings?

And so the Precedent will be set. And some teams will be handicapped. While others are guaranteed a shot.

All on October 28th.......

They say they will take strength of schedule etc etc into it.

But how can humans do that more objectively than a BCS computer?

I still can't figure out why they didn't just do a Plus+1.

Play all the Bowl Games and agreed upon matchups, keep the BCS formula blended with the polls, then after all the bowls are played, #1 and #2 play each other in a totally separate "Plus 1" National Championship game.

TV ratings will be a factor in the rankings... I think that's why a committee was set up

Back when the Play-off Zombies were howling and whining for a Play-off, i wonder how many of them would have supported the idea of this Playoff Committee?

It's fricked up how they announced the move to a Playoff, and then threw this 13 member playoff-Czar panel in there way after the fact.....

8 Super Confrences ( 14-16 team min, or however many it takes to get every div 1a program in a conference)
All are required to play a championship game = 8 team playoff. Every conference is represented ,so no belly aching about bias. Win your conference and your in.

That is just to appease our democratic roots. If there was to be one philosopher king to annoint the championship game, who should be appointed? I'd vote Jim Nantz.

I read that Bama once won one of their national championships even though they lost their bowl game........while the #2 ranked team won theirs.

The Reason: National Championships were awarded back then before the bowl games were played.

This was like 40 years ago. And now we're only up to giving Czar Panels a try.

Conclusion: We're retarded.

No, people are incompetent, stupid, or easily influenced by the media. Retarded is only for those that are special. And often, they make better choices than the ones without a handicap, as they more often than most maintain an innocence that leaves them invulnerable to those influences. That aside, who is your philosopher king? Or will you have another rabbit hole.

This system is going to be so much more controversial than the BCS ever was. Should be a riot.

I see Bobby Bowden taking control and explaining why the Stanford's mother didn't make him a better meal and why they should get in over Oregon. Bottom line: the more heads in the room, the more disagreement.

We should have our own Play-off Czar panel this season. And we can compare our poll to the ones the Supreme Beings produce. Maybe the first 13 people to post in this thread or something.....

Christopher/Deeprig, do one of you want to be Chairman and organize the weekly ballot threads starting October 28th and to crunch the numbers for the GSB Play-off Czar poll?
