Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson will undergo surgery on his left foot on Friday and won't play in the upcoming College Football Playoff, he told The Columbus Dispatch on Tuesday.

Henderson, the No. 4 Buckeyes' second-leading rusher with 571 yards and six touchdowns, missed three of the past four games because of the injury.

Henderson told the Dispatch on Tuesday that he injured his foot in a 77-21 victory against Toledo on Sept. 17 and had been battling the injury ever since. He previously tweeted that he was playing with a fracture and torn ligament in his foot.

Junior Miyan Williams leads the Buckeyes with 817 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. He has been hampered by a right leg injury lately as well.

Henderson is the second high-profile Buckeyes player to announce that he'll miss the CFP. Last week, receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who broke the Big Ten record with 1,066 receiving yards in 2021 but missed most of this season with a lingering hamstring injury, announced that he wouldn't play against Georgia and would start preparing for the NFL draft.

So when we beat osu in the semi we gonna hear the same whining from osu fans as we did from bammers...

"Woulda kicked yo arse but we was missing #1WR and #2RB"...

With Evan Pryor out for the season, their top 2 running backs is out. Milan Williams is also hampered . CJ Stroud is going to air it out to all those big time receivers. The secondary better stay disciplined.

They are down #1 and #2 rb with #3 not at 100 percent

It's my understanding that the two most productive RBs this season are ultimately #s 2 & 3 on their roster.

Well yea, but also means our front 7 can pin their ears back a bit more and wreak havoc in the backfield a lot more often….also means we can play our safeties back a little as the run threat is less likely. But yes, our DBs need to be, and will be, ready

Damn sure were ready for TN who came into that game #1 in the nation in passing.

This is the approach I expect.

We weren't happy to see the secondary get torched for worthless yardage in the SECCG, but I'm kinda glad it happened the way it did because that gives Kirby & co. a month of treating the DBs like worthless animals headed into the Peach Bowl.

it's actually worse.

treveyon henderson, the one that's hurt, is their #1 back by all accounts.

now, miyan williams is also hobbled, but will likely be OK. im not entirely sure who is better to be honest. i like miyan williams quite a bit, but basically every ohio state fan prefers henderson and the depth chart when healthy would support henderson as the 1 as well. both are quite productive.

At the end of the day, I'm not scared of any team running on us. I'd be more worried about the downfield passing threat, if I needed to pick something to get worked up over.

That said, giving the coaches a month to get the secondary's minds right + the way we handled Tennessee's passing attack has me comfy AF.

Think depth. They are thin at rb.

I mean they still gotta play D. They got talent so they can't really make any excuses the way I see it.
