The Victory Cigar

I bought an eight cigar sampler-pack for 10 bucks today from Cigars Intl. I’ve never smoked before but now that I’m retired I think I’d like to celebrate some great occasions by lighting one up. I'm glad you don't have to inhale to enjoy a cigar. In the sampler-pack are: Arganese Habano - Bahia Maduro - Villazon Natural - CAO Colombia - Gurkha Sherpa Orange - Hoyo Excalibur - Macanudo Cafe - Sancho Panza Triple Añejo.
I’d esp. like to smoke a cigar after a major Dawg victory (for me it’s AU, FL, and TN). I could see myself sitting on the deck moments after beating AU by lighting up the ‘victory cigar’. The thought brings a smile to my face. Any cigar smokers out there with advice, rituals, habits, favorite cigars?

My cigar history is a few Swisher Sweets in high school and college, so I can't help you there.

torch lighter or wooden match. Dont use a regular cig lighter. Its said to mess up the flavor of your cigar
toast the cigar when lighting. Dont hold the flame up to the cigar.
As far as the type, thats up to you. I prefer a bolder tasting cigar. If you are just starting out i suggest going with the Macanudo Cafe. Thats a solid mild cigar

Doesn't this use the same fuel?

Finally gave up cigars as well, side effects the next morning aren't worth it. It was a good run, burned one with Carlito Fuente and Charles Barkley to name a few over the years.
Still down with bourbon, scotch, and Irish whiskey though.

Drew Estate makes a nice mild line of cigars. Acid Toast is good for beginners like myself.

I love an Arturo Fuente Short Story. Haven't had a cigar in years...I may get one here soon.

The Macanudo and CAO are good. Don’t know about the others.
My go to is a My Father Flor De Las Antilles. Won cigar of the year and its relatively low priced.
You want to blacken it with a torch lighter until it’s evenly lit, take a couple of draws and then let it rest. Smoke it slowly. If you smoke too fast it’ll burn uneven. Enjoy with a neat Scotch, Bourbon or dark beer. It should be an hour or so experience. Enjoy!

By the way, you still get the nicotine and carcinogens in your mouth, throat, and sinuses, so you can get addicted and you still increase your cancer chances. Just fyi.
