I think its time to get rid of the SEC championship game.

Look at this shite:

Oklahoma gets to play Texas...9-3
Clemson gets to play Pitt.....7-5
Ohio State gets to play Northwestern 8-4
Notre Dame gets to play Manti Te'o's Girlfriend

We get to play 12-0 Bama.

Why in the frick are we playing a play-off level game out side of the playoff? This game officially kept us out of the playoff as we basically were eliminated because we lost to the alleged #1 team in the last minute of the game.

The SEC championship game officially kept 2 SEC teams out of the playoff....its hurting the SEC...should we get rid of it?

No, because it guarantees a spot every year in the CFP

It is part of the system and will continue to be because...money.

Many years this game has been a blowout. We just happen to be in a period where the two best teams don’t play each other.

Winning it damn near guarantees you are in.

To be the best you have to beat the best. I would rather see us raise our bar to Bama’s level than work backwards schemes to get to the playoffs.

Disagree...I'd rather sit at home, game plan, and get healthy and play bama for all the marbles...not a shot at all the marbles.

ND will end conference championships. Expansion will also. They are now meaningless. It’s a shame but it is bound to happen.

Nah, those games aren't going away anytime soon. Too much money to be made.

Helped us last year, "hurt" us (if thats even a thing) this year...they still coulda taken Oklahoma over us if we didnt play a game. I think the reason we actually almost had a shot was because of how close we played Bama

How about we shouldn't have lost to LSU and we would still be in despite losing the CCG

Pressure is a privilege.

To whom much is given, much is required.

Win the SECCG and you are in the playoff every year. Lose it and you should go home anyway.

We should win the damn thing. We had a chance to get Bama down by 3 scores, and missed a chip shot. Then we immediately gave up a TD.

Get a killer instinct and kill the bastards next time. Don't let them up off the mat.

Kirby has to hone that killer instinct. Three years under his belt now, we'd better have boots on throats for 60 minutes in 2019, beginning with the Sugar Bowl.

Sankey needs to at least consider doing away with the CCG. Fact is that he presides over the most dominant conference in the league and, as such, will more often than not see this pointless title cost us CFP bids.

The committee has made it abundantly clear that they’re putting the most weight into archaic W-L records instead of analytics...it’s the Cy Young Award of college football. Until the committee shows willingness to step into the current era of analytics, one SEC team with a self-inflicted loss at the hands of Sankey’s CCG is going to continue to cost the conference. The SEC holds leverage and should be using it to force the committee to change.

It's time for us to join another conference and be guaranteed a shot at the natty every year. Just think of how refreshed and unhurt our team would be for the annual UGA-Bama championship game!

I get what you are saying, but....since we finished at #5, it is reasonable to think we would have made the playoffs if we had beaten LSU. That really was the game we should have won and would have gotten us into the playoffs.

Bingo! We laid a rotten egg in that one. The loss in the SEC championship game enhanced our credibility. If that was our only loss, we're absolutely in.

I absolutely agree. If we beat LSU we would have gone into the SECCG ranked either #1 or #2 and the loss would have put us down to #3 or #4....probably #3.

Radi tweeted a CBS comment that this SEC championship was the most watched regular season college football game in their history.

no way they get rid of it at this point.

UGA/Bama games deliver..just need them to not always deliver for Bama at the end...

I said the exact same thing and got blasted by a few pukes who’ve replied here, with a different take (one is an IT tech who claims to sell enterprise).

If you’re in the SEC and you’re not called Bama, playing and losing a championship game is deadly. #4 just dominated undefeated #1 for 3 quarters, and had better stats, lost by a last minute TD, and dropped in rankings in favor of teams with worse resumes. Meanwhile a team is in that got to sit and rest and watch. If you don’t play in a CC, you don’t get in. If you play and lose a CC to the #1 team by a late TD, you’re and have the resume that UGA has, you’re at least #4. If ND is not going to be punished by not playing a CC, they should just not count the CCG.

Moral, every team should be required to be in a conference, and when #4 plays #1 and plays the way UGA did vs Bama, they should not be leapfrogged. It’s idiotic.

I actually saw that someone (Herbsteit, maybe?) say that in his opinion, with the showing Georgia made Saturday, we should have actually moved to #3. Really caught me off guard, but what his reasoning was, was that what other team in the running would have played Alabama that closely?

In it's own way it actually made sense....but all in all, I stand by my statement that the LSU game cost us a lot more than the SECCG.
