was it discussed or asked of KS why we took our foot off the pedal in the second half? Why no Sony late in game?

Bama has a great defense and it was probably felt that it was better to try to run the ball and minimize the chances of turning the ball over than continue letting Fromm air it so much out like he did in the first half. Our defense was putting on a clinic in the first half, too, so that probably factored in to the 2nd half offensive play calling.

We had a 13 point lead on a team that couldn't move the ball on us. Without Tua coming in we're hoisting the trophy.

Also, with their defense throwing the ball was a risky proposition. The worst thing that could happen was a pick or fumble to give them a short field.

Now that being said we definitely should've leaned on Swift and Sony in the 2nd half because their more elusive. You're not going to out man Bama so Chubb's downhill style wasn't going to work.

Bama got more creative on the DL in the second half, and we didn't have an answer for it.

They ran more twists and stunts. And we just weren't experienced enough to handle them in pass protection. And we weren't good enough to punish them for that aggressive behavior with the run game.

In 11 drop backs, we had 2 sacks an INT and a quick screen go for -8. 1/3 of the plays were drive killers. We felt the odds were better trying to lean on the run game and pop off the surprise pass than the other way around.

Saban and Pruitt were showing one thing, then when Fromm changed the play, Bama called an audible before the snap. No time left for Fromm to change anything.
Next time a more experienced Fromm will have 2 plays and can change with a one-word call. Then Saban and his new DC will have to adapt to us.

I think losing Wims hurt. Bama seemed obsessed with covering him. I think it opened up Riley and Godwin which also helped the run game. Just a thought. Offense died after he got hurt.

I’m sure that was a factor in the play calling. Ridley has proven himself to be too inconsistent throughout the season to be extremely reliable in big time situations.

Reports are coming out that Sony May have been hurt in the 4th quarter. Makes sense, if this is true. I know Chubb has been a loyal player, but don’t think for a second that if Sony was healthy, he wouldn’t have been in more than he was.

We’ve all been mad at play calling in the past. We’ve had situations where we were yelling at the coaches for not running the ball and killing clock. This time, we wanted to pass more and stay aggressive. In the end, we went toe to toe with the best team in football for the last 10 years. Saban acted like this was his best win ever in his career after the game. He knew Georgia was as good or better than his team and was happy as hell to get out of there with a win. I guarantee this was Alabama’s toughest victory in the last 5 years and they wouldn’t want a rematch anytime soon.

Also, you have to wonder what the effect the travel out to Pasadena and back had on these guys. Once all the adrenaline wore off, the D just look gassed.

I think Fromm's INT that bounced off the defender's helmet, immediately following a takeaway in Bama territory, is what caused the conservative approach toward the end of the game.

It was a costly play. Bama has had a knack for creating turnovers and returning them for scores over the last few years. This was probably in the back of Kirby's mind and he didn't want to risk aggressive calls leading to any more easy points for them.

That int was not caused by Bama's Defense. Fromm basically just threw the ball in the defenders path and hit him on the helmet.

The defender basically got pushed into the path of the ball at the last second. Weird, flukish play. Otherwise Fromm hits Michel in the middle of the field.

Regardless, the end result was bad so it's probably why we didn't take a lot more shots downfield.
