I posted this on the Rant but now I realize it should be here.

I wasn’t supposed to go at all. But I went and told coach, “Let me do something. Put me in, please. For anything.” I just want to be out there and be with my team.

Swift came in for a successful Flea-Flicker play

I don't know exactly what it is about the situation that gets me, but dang. Swift a DGD. Extremely surprised that he didn't make a business decision. I doubt many fans would have questioned him if he did.

Good for him! I'm glad he wanted to go back in there.

So what was the story? Did the announcers not say a few different times in the beginning that him playing was up to him? Has he officially declared yet? I know we all expect it, just couldn't recall.

Wonderful insight that gives me an emotional lift regarding Swift. He's a DGD and I wish him only the best.

i'll always remember swift's TD run against AU in the SEC championship - the last nail in AU's coffin that night.

At least he was there, unlike many others. So good on him. Go get paid and have a great NFL career.

If I recall correctly, he has a banged up shoulder. He was cleared to play, but Kirby did not want to chance reinjuring his shoulder and cost him money, so Kirby let Swift make the call.

Keep in mind, that being cleared to play does not mean you are 100%. It means you can play. I suspect Swift was probably 80% or so and decided not to take too much of a chance, but wanted to contribute in some way.

THAT IS SPECULATION ON MY PART

This is what I was referring to, so thanks for the clarification. I had not heard anything other than the announcers saying that Swift said it was his call.

He should stay and be a leader. The NFL will still be waiting for him. His parents aren't poor.

He should go. His parents are not rich. He is also probably the first RB taken.

You onlyget the college experience once, after going pro you have to adult, and you'll never get those college years back, he has tons of friends and relationships he's made, and still has alot more he can do here.

This adds a lot to my respect for Kirby.

Wonder if recruits will compare this to similar situations with other players & teams and make a judgement about which staff has the athletes' best interest at heart.

If he wants to come back I certainly will take it. I think a big part of the reason he REALLY wanted to play in the Sugar Bowl is because he knows that was probably his last time playing football in a UGA jersey though. Running back is one position that I fully support getting to league ASAP as they have shorter careers. A guy like Gurley might be close to done already because of an injury he suffered in college, but he made it to the second contract.
