Happens quite often with any athlete in a number of sports that potentially has a future in the professional ranks(Paul Skenes).

If players dont and still have professional aspirations, then you can look at the case of Noah Song. Right handed pitcher from Navy. Didnt really blossom until his junior year, and by the end of his senior year, he had first round talent. He slid to the 4th round of the 2019 draft by Boston and went straight to the minors. Played 17 innings at the end of the 2019 season while he appealed his commitment to the Navy. He was ultimately denied. He studied to be a fighter pilot. Millions of dollars went into training him. He spent his four years in the Navy, and then came back to baseball as a 26 year old in 2023, where he wasnt bad with all the rust. He then messed up his elbow spring 2024 and hasnt pitched since. Not a great chance he will make it to the majors now.

Sorry for the above, but I have very close dealings with a kid in Naval aviation and it is 8 years , after training, which is 2 to 3 years depending on when they graduate and how the class slots line up in Pensacola. Where did you get your info? Were there other circumstances?

I just watched the Brooks breakdown on McCray, the running back out of Illinois. Very good watch and definitely what the running back room needed. I also heard Uncle Lou say on his live show tonight that McCray has more college football snaps than our entire running back room combined. I haven't fact checked him on that, but if even close to being true, this is an excellent pickup in an area of need.

can you summarize it? The only thing I know at all about him is about a 20 second highlight clip from the bowl game. In that extreemly limited sample size he kinda just looked like RodRob to me; big, physical, tough runner that's fairly slow. Certainly never hurts to have a guy like that but I'd hate to have to feature that skillset.

My guess is he will be a good 3rd down back.

He ran all over USCe in the bowl game when I watched it real time.

However, with transfers, opt-outs and overall lathergy who knows how "up" that USCe team was to play Illinois.

You pretty much got it. He wasn't an every-down back at Illinois, and he won't be here. He's what we all wanted The Robinson boys to be, at this point a compliment to Frazier. The #2 in a 1-2 punch. He's not going to outrun anyone, but has excellent cuts and lots of power, lots of fall forward, never will be arm tackled. That's the brooks summary, with lots of film to illustrate.

I half-assedly predicted he'd take the starting job this year at UGA, lolol.

I still support him and his success, anyone who sues Florida and Billy Napier personally is ok in my book.

He theoretically had a shot to compete,I found the timing of his departure kind of strange. Didn’t even try. I will say he is a string bean in person, though. I personally think he would’ve gotten killed in the SEC.

Branson Robinson signed with Ga State.

Not UGA related but Arik Gilbert to Savannah State.

Best of luck to him. That knee injury was worse than people let on.
