And while he's not afraid to run the ball, he's not that dangerous when he does.
A couple weeks before the game, Brooks Austin pointed this out. Gunner's top speed is 4.8ish 40yd. I tried to point this out here a couple times and nobody was hearing it. The best rebuttal I heard was "Tim Tebow wasn't very fast either" so I leaned on that to quell my fears. Unfortunately the Tim Tebow comparison was not validated in the sugar bowl.

Gunner is an accurate passer with a very slow delivery.
That was the initial thought but there were a couple of passes that he got out quick…including the TD to Cash. I don’t think his delivery is as big of an issue as everyone makes it out to be.
His legs are enough to get him out of trouble and convert a few 3rd downs but I don’t see it as enough of a threat to game plan around.

His release is fine, people have the Texas game in their heads and that was less about release and more about confidence in his decision.

So if not Gunner, then who?

Pugs or a portal guy. Either way, I think it should be an open competition in spring practice > fall camp if necessary. I don’t think it should just be handed over to Stockton.

Stockton threw the ball better than I expected but I thought he would be more mobile. He looks slow running the ball and not very elusive. If he's just going to be a pocket passer, he needs to be able to read defenses and make calls at the line.

Gunner has absolutely NO pocket presence,
That comes with playing time, genius.

Tebow also had this.

Yah, agree here. He has a slow release. Seems that will hurt him. He also doesn't seem very fast. But yah, that this point, it's Gunner's team in 2025 and Puglisi as the backup QB.

Agree sadly....Probably looking at a Fromm purgatory where he isn't bad enough to bench, but it's obvious he's not going to lead us to a chip.

You do know that Fromm left the field with the lead in OT in the 2018 NCG, right?
Some of you guys don't think before you hit send.

The only thing "obvious" is that his legs are all hat, no cattle.

4.8 - 40 makes sense. He just looked really slow on those read options. I think Beck is actually faster. I saw some Gunner HS games and he really ran the ball well but I guess that was AA HS football.

From what I've seen Stockton would do just fine for us. He's got plenty of arm and accuracy to be a UGA QB and his legs are good enough to keep a defense honest, which should help our run game overall. We just need to get him help with the OL next season. If the OL doesn't improve, it won't matter much who we have as QB1, as games are typically won in the trenches.

In other words, hot rod made a 51 yard field goal after fromm’s 13 yard sack on 3rd and 6 in OT.

What are you doing Foo? Don’t you know we’re supposed to shite on the starter and pine for the next man up? Until he’s the starter and then we hate on him and want the next man up.
Fromm/Fields
Stet/ Beck
Beck/ (Gunner, Rashada, Pugs)
Gunner/ ???
Obviously the coaches don’t know shite about evaluating QB’s and Kirby isn’t a fan of competition so we know the position will be awarded to whomever they like best regardless of performance.
You get a GSB demerit.

From the little I've seen him play, I agree. ND has one of the best defenses in college football, and he did mostly OK vs them considering our O line was so porous.

He still put us in that position.
Don't be dense.
