Thats okay because being tired of it doesnt mean it didnt happen.

I honestly think that’s more embarrassing than being beat. Just saying you don’t want to be there. That’s why I’m tired of it. Not because it didn’t happen, but because it’s one of the most embarrassing things a program can do. We would have finished in the top 5 with a Sugar Bowl win. It’s not like we’ve had a ton of top 5 finishes in recent memory.

The problem is our standards are to be a playoff team, so anything less than a playoff game is likely gonna lead to a disappointing bowl game. Saban has the same exact problem at Bama.

I get that, I do. And I think we’ll learn from that the same way Bama did in the 09 Sugar Bowl. It’s still an embarrassing performance and saying we lost because we didn’t want to be there is such a crap excuse. Just win the game, especially if you’re talking crap about how you should have been in the playoffs.

Part of the problem is that the playoffs came before our bowl game, which is totally out of order. CFB fricked up its postseason a 100 years ago and we are still paying the price for that. This is the only sport I am aware of that plays rather meaningless postseason games.

Why should last year have anything to do with this year?

You've obviously never watched the Pro Bowl.

Judging by its Nielsen ratings, he's not the only one.

A most bizarre statement. 2017 was our first and only CFB Playoff appearance. Until we make a few more, and maybe win an NC or two, I don't think we quite compare to Bama under Saban.
As for the players not wanting to be there Kirby should have had them ready to play, or sat players and put in guys that wanted to play. I'd rather lose while giving my best game than just not care.

Dont need to make a few more playoffs and win a NC or two to elevate ourselves beyond being excited about a meaningless playoff game. Neither did Bama, as their first bowl game like that came in 2008, which was BEFORE they even won the SEC. If Saban cant get his guys ready for such games, as their 2013 bowl also proved, then expecting Kirby to do so is a bit unrealistic. Kirby learned everything from Saban. This is the price you pay to have an elite program. The other choice is Mark Richt.

They do have the NIT. I guess that is similar to non playoff bowl games. The difference is the best teams in the nation don’t have to play in it because they are in the dance.

The best football teams in the nation last season were in the CFB Playoffs, not the Sugar bowl. As for not caring about a "meaningless" game, if the players don't care enough to play their best for their teammates, the coaches, the school, and the fans, then they shouldn't even be on the field.
Baker didn't care, and at least he didn't play the game.

Uga was likely better than notre dame and ou, so maybe, maybe not. In any other sport, we would have had a chance to prove it.

Also, a problem with bowls is they earn money, so you can’t skip the games, no matter how meaningless the game is. Well, besides our best player and our defensive coordinator.
