Don't care about upvotes and downvotes but FYI, if you ever wanted to change it, you could just refresh the page and click the other option

Just an FYI.....RPOs are more of read type of deal just like the zone. Think of it as like the pitch phase in the option. So 90% of the time they are not called, they are just "tagged" on to the zone play. Now the QB might be told before the play to pull the ball and throw the RPO but usually it's a read.

Does that limit the oline to how they block for the play? It would seem you have to simplify everything so it can be effective for both a run or pass ....i.e. no pulling linemen or screens.

It is simplified. The O-line block the zone play. At least it has been my personal experience with the Zone Read with RPOs.
The theory behind the throw out on the RPO is that it should happen so quick that you don't have lineman too far downfield on a pass play should the QB pull the ball on the zone and decide to throw. The game has evolved with this and refs have let it go as long as it isn't blatant.

The only downside to having a pocket passer is that it doesn't work if your O-line is getting their asses kicked.
The blocking has to be there, the routes have to be crisp and the throws have to be accurate. Any breakdown in that chain and the play is ruined.
However, if you have a guy who can run, one of those elements can fail and you still have a shot.
I think Fromm is amazing, but having a dual threat is so valuable in college ball

Not much to add. Our problems in this game were caused more by failing to adjust our notion that we would stick with the run at all costs. We clearly needed a balanced attack to keep Auburn's defense on its heels but for whatever reason, Chaney was committed to staying the course on running up the middle. A second problem - equally important - were several huge mental goofs...seems like we had trouble keeping it together in a hostile environment against a jacked up team (and crowd).
Fromm's play didn't appear to be an issue. Not sure how Eason would have made a difference to the factors above.

Besides missing Ridley on that shoulda been a td pass, but it's not like Eason would have been guaranteed to hit that either.
