What benefit does keeping Jim Cheney accomplish. He is the weak link. His record tells everything. He’s had a couple of QB’s who went on to the NFL and succeeded. His win/ loss record is pitiful. I get he may have been the most seasoned coach available when CKS took the job and needed the promise of stability to secure Eason. That day has passed and he will always be a liability. I can NOT believe CKS can’t find a younger OC that could put up magic number with the class JC has squandered.

Right or wrong we are sitting g at one loss with a true freshman QB. That in itself is remarkable.

As we sit here with 1 loss after clinching the east in early November....with a margin of victory of over 20 something points until last weekend.....WITH the best QB and RB(s) in the country committed to coming.

Yes...let's flip the tables...

I hate fat people as much as the next guy, but honestly his play calling and overall coordination is very very bobo.

Coach Snacks has been alright in my book this year. Thought most of his playcalling has been effective.

Me too...until Saturday. Really feel like he reverted to 2016 play calling when we got punched in the mouth. Reminded me of Nichols St.

What would you have liked to see more from him against Auburn with how our line was getting manhandled?

A couple of screen passes would’ve been nice. Possibly a few toss sweeps. A play or two out of the I. How bout a slant? Anything except off guard right, off guard left. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that wasn’t working.

The playcalling this year hasn’t been great. We’ve jumped to early leads and not done much until the second half most of the season. The defense and Fromm seems to have blinded a lot of fans of that.
My problem is Cheney cannot make adjustments. Saturday we ran tight/ bunch sets and assisted auburn in stacking the box....and then still tried to run between the guards. I could understand trying to run tight/ bunch sets....to help run outside but he is clueless and tried to use WR to block inside runs. Cheney has ZERO creativity or grasp of dialing up a play to counter defenses. You can’t tell me an OC watching the game Saturday can’t come up with more than a run, run, pass or let’s keep trying to pound the ball inside for 1 yard gains concept is worth a damn.

Worked for 9 games.

I've read this same exact verbatim criticism of Bobo a thousand times.

Well shite, why did you complain about the previous staff if we are content with winning 9 games but getting embarrassed in one that matters? Our best win got their shite pushed in by our under achieving coach we ran off. We aren’t winning shite with Cheney calling plays.

Everyone knew at that beginning of the season that Auburn would likely be our greatest challenge playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium. As such, I was expecting more creativity in play-calling.

We knew we would be up against the toughest defense we would face during the regular season. There should have been something different that we had not seen all season yet I didn't see any innovation.

And yes, our OL was a question mark at the beginning of the season and now it's still questionable having been exposed against a good defense. But this was all the more reason to find ways to get our play makers out in space since obviously they loaded the box to shut down our running game, which they did.

One thing I would have done is roll Fromm out with options to pass run or pitch out to Michel or Swift. When your OL is getting owned you have to do something to spread the defense out and keep them guessing to stall some of their aggressiveness.

And when you can't run the ball one option is to use short passes to running backs to get them in space. Auburn threw 2 passes to Kerryon Johnson for 66 yards; he was their leading receiver. We did not complete any passes to any of our running backs.

So yea, the OL definitely sucked because Auburn was fired up and packed it in to shut down our running game but we sure didn't help ourselves much with the play-calling.

Can't argue with anything you said. Would liked to have seen a few toss sweeps to Chubb or Michel to get them outside the tackles. Some roll outs might have worked. Fromm throws well on the move.

Chaney has been fine this year IMO.

The Auburn game was really puzzling in that it appeared we literally had no plan b for if/when our run game was stuffed. I am not a football coach or expert so I am not going to sit here and try to spout off what he should have done but I think others are correct in that there was a lack of creativity to say the least. We will see what Chaney is made of in the SECC game.

1 loss. Time to tear it down and start over. Fire Kirby’s sorry arse. Hire that guy that’s undefeated at Miami

I would love to see some video to support your claim that we are using receivers to block inside runs and that we are running into out numbered boxes.

First off, screens were a bad idea due to Auburn playing so much Tight man coverage.

Second off, Jet is a much faster play than Toss and we ran it once and maybe gained two yards. The one time we ran something similar and gained about 6 by faking the Zone off of it.

Third off, if they can’t execute a simple inside zone play, what in the world makes you think our OL could have properly executed a Toss play? Jet sweep was the best option and it didn’t work because they were flowing so freaking hard.

Guys it’s real simple...our offensive line is or achillies heel. They were last year as well. When they suck our team sucks. When they are great our team is nearly unstoppable. What part of that do y’all not understand?

It doesn’t matter who is calling the plays. Pop warner would’ve gave Been a great play caller for this offensive line until this game and he woulda sucked too. We didn’t show up to play and that’s it.

bullshite. Our Oline was exposed for what it really is. Its not Chaney's fault that they couldn't block the 4 linemen. Just as last year, when they faced a very good line they were exposed. People playing out of position. True freshmen.

Face it, our line is not there yet in any shape or form. We've just gone up against inferior talent. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
