We have to beat Tech to guarantee a spot in the playoffs. The SEC expansion made an already tough conference even tougher.

Logically speaking we should absolutely have a spot locked in (assuming a tech win) no matter happens in the SECCG. But if we do end up wtih that 3rd loss I'll be sweating bullets until the final announcements are made.

I'd take that one step further. The two conference teams that play in the conference championship game should be the highest seeded playoff teams from that conference, whether they win or lose in the CCG. If you exclude the CCG loser, you exclude everybody else.

In terms of the SEC, after the SECCG, UGA and our opponent should be seeded higher than any other SEC team. Otherwise, you could end up with a situation like UGA playing at Texas or at Tennessee in the first round even if those two didn't play in the SECCG.

Agreed... under the Divison system we used to use there was a possibility a 3-4 loss team could get in SECCG and pull the upset.

West teams always cried about the disparity between the E and W and that a lotta times the W had 2-3 teams better than the E Champ.

That excuse is gone now. #1 vs #2 in SEC and that's how they should be seeded after SECCG regardless of who won.

No team should get an advantage for missing the SECCG because 1 of the TOP 2 teams lost the CG...

Beat GT and we are in the CFP pretty much no matter what

This is the truth. Third loss being in the SECCG is not the same as third loss being at Chokelahoma by 175 points, like Bammer.

But 4th loss in SECCG is death,

I still think IF the 3rd loss comes to A&M in SECCG, UGA could be out of playoffs.

Assuming we can beat Tech, above scenario, who gets kicked out? It would have to be Tennessee (justified by we beat them) or loser of Miami/SMU…there isn’t anybody left.

Ok so in that scenario, who gets booted out?

Have to be Tenn or loser of ACC Championship with 2 losses.

The problem is that it's not clear the ACC has two teams deserving of a playoff spot. Since this is now a professional sport, we really need 3 or 4 mandatory P4 OOC games per team per year. Eliminate the fluff games. That's the only way to compare strength of record in all these newly assembled conferences.

Yeah this is a good point.

I almost said the ACC but if Miami loses in the ACCCG then I think they'll still make it in but if it's SMU or Clemson who loses then I could see them being left out.

Let's hope we get a first round bye. One of the staffers who survived the Willock car crash is suing Jalen Carter. A good number of players have to give depositions and the judge schedule those for the day before the first round of games.

Edit: If you read the lawsuit, it's total bullshite. Her sole compliant is he didn't come to the car to render aid, but stayed on the sidewalk.

So the team could already be in Austin Texas, for example, and some players would have stay behind or travel elsewhere to give a deposition? If so, that date seems intentional. Almost two years later and someone decides to schedule that the day before a playoff game, which also happens to be one of the heaviest travel weekends of the year.
