C'mon man.
I’m not an ortho but everything I’ve seen says you need 6-9 months before being able to return to throwing sports. And that’s just return…not be at a competitive level with guys who haven’t had any disruption in their training.
ETA: looking at Purdy he tore his ACL at the end of the 2022 season and was named starter in 2023 so it is possible to recover quick enough to be effective the next season - I still think it would be an uphill battle after missing Spring football though with the talent on the roster.

I was golfing with an orthopedic surgeon yesterday and he said that when he saw that injury happen that Beck is not going to be same throwing ever.
Expect a huge drop off
We will see vs. ND when he opens the season I guess

Good call and had me look it up. I had no idea there's an alternative to Tommy John for football players:
"According to ESPN, Purdy was able to have the surgery completed with InternalBrace augmentation, a newer form of UCL repair that is less complex than Tommy John, which typically takes at least a year to recover. Purdy was fully cleared to return from injury in July and didn't miss any of the 49ers' training camp after undergoing surgery on March 10."
So like a 4 month recovery? Medicine is incredible these days lol

UCL tears are super common in baseball and guys come back actually throwing harder. I have no idea what that doc was talking about...makes no sense.

He got way too much credit for the comebacks he engineered by digging us in the hole to begin with.
He has zero leadership ability, two left feet, and a mid mouthy social media influencer who creates further distraction.
He never met the standard of a Georgia Man, more like a Florida man.
My Brother.

Reports coming out of Miami now the nil deal is 4mil. So... exactly like I said 4-5 mil

He never badmouthed our school or did anything awful off the field. He got caught up in some of the unfortunate side affects of kids his age and NIL and social media, that were not my cup of tea, but nothing terrible.
What I don’t understand is why our fans feel it is ok to treat players who don’t live up to their expectations with such vileness.
I agree with this 100%. No reason to castigate any player when they served the program with honor. I'm not so lenient in my view of coaches. They are paid ultra-professionals and are deserving of any and all criticism of the product they field.

I hope you don't use this guy.

You have to admit though, there is just something about him that doesn't add up.
The kid was "aloof." It's just his personality. It doesn't mean he's arrogant or distrusted by the team. It is a trait that doesn't lend itself well to a tight knit locker room, much less as a leader in a locker room, but it's just who he is as a human being. I don't fault him for how God made him. I have a hard time thinking of one instance where he was disrespectful or unsupportive of his team. I think he did the best he could given who he is. It certainly wasn't like he pulled a Justin Fields.

Nobody young has that kind of wisdom. Young people live in their emotions, not their experience. They have none to live by.

All of us fans need to realize the number of DGDs is going to go down significantly in the coming years due to NIL and the portal. Fewer and fewer really good but maybe not superstar players will stay in the background when they can go somewhere else and get paid and play. Loyalty to a school is going to be a thing of the past.

Stetson is the most important player in UGA history.
Beck is a wash out who obviously didn't want to be here, just wanted to spend the check. The anti Stetson if you will.
They are Professionals now and the money comes with cr

think it's absolutely hilarious to see everyone kiss stetsons arse in here when half the board was pissed off that he was coming back in 22'.
There may have been some with that sentiment, but I don't recall a single one of them.

He said it looked like more than just UCL
Obviously, he didn't look inside Beck's arm to confirm
I assume you are an orthopedic surgeon and will tell us how Beck will recover?

This rationale makes absolutely no sense to me unless you wanted him to come back to UGA. I personally don't, so I certainly don't begrudge him going elsewhere no matter where elsewhere is. The reason I don't want him coming back is it feels like UGA needs to turn the page and this is part of the page that needs turning.

Yep. I'm hoping they tighten up the portal freeway. If they do that the NIL issue becomes a non-issue.

I agree with this, mostly.
Also, point of fact, he was at UGA 5 years, not four. His first three years on the bench, putting in the work, not complaining, not transferring.
He's still a DGD in my opinion. He is getting so much undue hate right now because he has to make a tough business decision based on his injury.

Exactly. I feel both sides were ready to move on.
