I'm going to reserve judgement on Chaney, until we see the product on the field. I see several people who know football that think this is a really good hire.

So the coaching universe thinks the Kirby Smart hire is a bust. Everybody turned jobs down except Pruitt who was shunned. Great fricking start.

How did Muschamp have a plan for exactly who he was hiring as coordinators prior to being hired, and Kirby Smart did not?

Chaney / Pittman hire really fits with what Smart has been preaching our offense would be though if think about it. We need to be better up front in the trenches and you need to get your best players the football no matter what scheme you run. I think Chaney was able to sell that he would mold the offense to whatever our players strengths were and that was a big selling point to Smart. The fact that Chaney could sway Pittman to come along with him as probably helped as well.

This stood out as the biggest factor to me. The media said no less than 7 Offensive players and HC Bret Bielema went to Pittmans house to talk him out of leaving..he was the priority. I think a DL coach will be the Defensive priority as well.

Pittman is a home run, Chaney is very middle of the road going to get ya 31-36 ppg in a season. Probably have a 1,000 rusher and 2,800 yard passer given or take.
