So, allegedly if Alabama wins they are not definitely in. Also, allegedly if UGA loses, they are not definitely out. This is the hardest year to predict. I don’t even know what would benefit us if we were to lose other than FL State losing. No idea who to cheer for in the other games. All I know for sure, is that you can’t leave UGA out if you truly want the “4 best teams”.

Assuming a Georgia victory, our opponents will be either FSU, or Texas. [Now I am aware Michigan could get upset, or both FSU and Texas could lose and we'd play Ohio State but those two scenarios are unlikely]

So for UGA fans it boils down to pulling for an FSU win tomorrow, so we'd get to play them in the Sugar Bowl. Ironically the last time we played them was in the 2003 Sugar bowl.

Michigan-UW is the almost guaranteed Rose Bowl matchup. Would be cool to see Michigan get upset in the semis for the second year in a row. If we get to play UW for the natty, I like our chances at another blow out in the championship game

But first things first. Here's to a victory tomorrow and #30 in a row.

if we lose, we would likely need 2 of the 3 teams below to lose:
Michigan, Texas or FSU.

Texas game will be finished before we take the field, which will be very important for Bama if they beat us, as they also need Texas to lose IMO.

Obviously, we should just beat Bama’s arse and get in, but scenarios are fun to talk about.

Agree. 100% would hate losing to Bama but I heard some talking head say UGA could potentially get in over Bama even if we lost. Would almost be worth it due to the ensuing Bama melt.

It’s about the 4 BEST teams not the 4 most deserving.

I'm not so sure.
FSU without their starting QB is not one of the 4 best teams IMO but if they win the ACC, which they should, they will be in the playoffs.
Washington and Georgia had/have the toughest paths but I think it will play out the way they are already ranked:
Georgia
Michigan
Washington
FSU

Not gonna argue but the CFP chairman emphasized that it is 4 best not 4 most deserving on Tuesday when speaking after the rankings were released.

Correct

Largely accurate, although if we lose it's most likely we're out unless a ton of other things go our way which is unlikely

This couldn't be more wrong. It's literally the exact opposite.

It’s not though. Have you been watching Gameday or the rankings show on Tuesday? They have their guidelines they consider but they have been saying all morning and Tuesday evening that it is their job to include the 4 best not 4 most deserving.

Lol gameday is foe entertainment only. I've very closely watched the last 9 years of committee decisions so I don't need a media personality to explain it to me, I can see it myself.

Yet that's never happened. If that was TRULY the case then why not just sit today out since we're clearly a 4 best team? Why did tcu make it over bama last year? Why did OSU make it in 2016 over a penn state team that not only beat Ohio state but also win the conference? Because resumes matter. Resumes are objective, "best team" is subjective eye test.

Well ESPN is the only media parter of the CFP. Like it or not they have input.

2016 - Ohio St. was put CFP final four in over Penn St. who was B1G champ who beat Ohio St. head to head.

That’s the most glaring example.

This year could pose more decisions like that depending on what happens today.

It is also very realistic to say that a hypothetical 1 loss UGA and/or a 1 loss Ohio St. has a better resume than undefeated FSU.

There is no better resume than a 13-0 P5 champion lol. Watching them play they look like shite and would get murdered by several teams, but that's literally the discussion here. Their resume is undebatable, but the eye test on "best teams" they fail miserably.

Is our loss better than Texas's? Yes.
Is our schedule tougher than tOSU? Yes.

If FSU is out (which I think they are, win or lose today), UGA has a very real shot of still making it.

They are 10000000% in with a win

If Michigan and Washington are already locks, the only chance we have to make it with a loss is if FSU and Texas both lose. That would put bama at 3 as us at 4. Short of both of those teams losing we are almost surely out with a loss today

Dawgs are in, win or lose.

The reality is that the playoff committee has been embarrassed by their final four selections almost every single year of their existence, based on the gross lack of actual competitive playoff games that in the entire existence of the playoff. How many have there been? Two total? (both involving the Dawgs btw) So, what would the Vegas pointspread be for FSU against anyof the current Top 10 or so? FSU doesn’t belong. Theyd be solid underdogs against all of them. They told us we were getting a human playoff committee for this exact scenario.l.. to weed these types out.

Another factor here is that the human playoff committee, in all of its entire existence has picked the exact same final four teams as the BCS computer algorythm has. In fact, their current top 4 mirrors what the BCS computers say.

Do you really think Georgia would fall out of the top 4 in the BCS rankings with a loss. ?I would doubt it. So turn that frown upside down gimp.

Thats simply not true, based on 9 years of data to go on.

People are too emotional. "we won 29 straight games!" " We're back to back champs!" Ok...that doesn't matter. We're a 1 loss team that didnt win its conference, meaning we would need some help to get in.

Obviously, I'd rather just win today and forget all his other shite. But if we do end up losing, some people are going to be really confused when were left out and blame bias or whatever when in reality they should've seen it coming a mile away.

Texas winning essentially erases any chance we'd have at losing and making it. Assuming that Michigan and Washington are already locks.

Its a human committee. A gathering of mid level schlubs who want to get it right. These types of schlubs dont think for themselves. They look to the opinion makers and influencers for that. And many of those opinion makers are saying Georgia deserves to be in no matter what. Many of them.

Its also entirely possible, though, that the committee would get it wrong and exclude Georgia if they lose. It would be a travesty and an embarrassment, but it could happen.

The only “emotional” argument here is yours. The emotional argument that Dawgs are out with a loss JUST CUZ YOU SAY SO. Ha ha. Sorry, dude. But its just not true.

There is hope. Real tangible hope.
