It's easy to hate on the best.

Especially when they have a history of cheating.

What best? They've been a dogshit franchise for most of their history.

OK... I forgot that some people are happy with results from 35+ years ago and don't recognize what has been happening for the past few decades.

You can't argue with the results they have had in the Brady/Belichick era with scrubs from other teams and late round draft picks. They know how to produce winning football teams year in and year out.

It's almost as bad as the people that think football was invented 15 years ago.

You can't argue with stats.

Then show me the stat that proves the Patriots are the best NFL franchise. By my math, 6 > 4. Also, 5 > 4.

Can't go by Super Bowl wins alone, though they could be notching their fifth today. The fact that they've had so many Championship and Super Bowl appearances over the past two decades should be enough. But here is one opinion of why the Pats are the greatest. On top of that, the Patriots have done it all in the era of unrestricted free agency and the salary cap. It's harder to win now than ever before in NFL history, and the Patriots keep finding ways to get it done.

The NFL today is structured to prevent what the Patriots have done, and they do it anyway, with players cut by other teams or players not wanted in the draft by others. Their stars (Brady aside) keep going to other teams and often times fizzle out (Matt Cassel comes to mind) because they aren't used to their full potential as they were in New England, or they don't play quite like they did with the support of the NE coaching staff and player development.

The Patriots are a machine that consistently excels regardless of the players they put on the field, and they put up some gaudy numbers doing it. Even with Brady out the first four games, look what they were able to do with the 2nd and 3rd string QBs. It's why so many people hate them; everyone loves the underdog and the Patriots are rarely the underdog.

Yes, in their recent history, the Patriots have been good. Overall, they haven't been, and once Brady and Belichick are gone (and Kraft is dead), they'll return to perennial suckitude.

It is not arguable that the Pats are not on the greatest string of victories and championships in NFL history. Don't try to do it. They eclipse the Lombardi Packers (they won championships before the SB was invented), Noll's Steelers and Walsh's 49ers that in my opinion the only franchises worth comparing the Pats to.

Tomorrow we go up against what is arguable, and I think successfully so, the greatest head coach in NFL history and the greatest QB in NFL history.

However, in spite of there record of dominance -
1) They won their first 3 SB by a total of nine points
2) Giants beat'em 2 straight
3) Carroll gave to them by not running the beast
4) They haven't played a quality QB since their bye week the last week of October. Wilson and they beat the Pats in their house. Flaaco, he is OK buy not great, Steelers but Ben lost Bell early. The rest are the likes of Rams, Jets, 49ers, Broncos, Fins, Texans none of which has or had a QB.

Gonna be a wake up call for the Pats.

You're right. As long a that program keeps doing what they are doing, the Pats don't have to worry about that rematch for a long time.
