Add in Sugar production, plus tourism, we would be fine. We also trot out some big time military bases throughout the state. I have worked at almost all of them.

We would be a country envied actually.

SO the takers are a problem but the Military bases are a plus? They are both on the dole my friend. If it weren't for the feds "taking" the oil and gas and pying for those military bases and those entitlement programs there would be no wealth at all. ANd don't even get me started on the evils of domestic sugar and the problems we have created for ourselves in the Caribbean and central/south america because of the protections that domestic sugar enjoy. Here is a hint...YA'LL DIDN'T BUILD THAT....

A towns #1 heroin trap. Believe me, I'm all too familiar. Had a real good friend get shot down in the middle of the afternoon there buying dope there years ago

And fwiw, I've lived in both cities for a good length of time. The 9th ward is a Dunwoody suburb compared to parts of bankhead. That's not even debatable, imo

ATL is pretty terrible. No culture, just a bunch of buildings and commuters. NO has better music, food, architecture, and people. Not even a contest. And crime rates are high in both cities. Let's use the SB crowd as a judge - everyone is raving about how much fun they had in NO, but when it's in ATL, people can't wait to leave. Plus Saints > Falcons every day of the week. Always

Atlanta hosted just as many big events if not more...(Olympics,Final fours,Super Bowls,World Series,Conventions,SECCG,) and folks keep coming back.Folks can't wait to leave? Really? Is that why so many people are moving here?

Your whole economy js based off good times...good luck with steady long term growth. Atlanta is home to 10 fortune 500's...you have grand total of 1 in NO.

You're delusional as hell. Sure New Orleans has culture, but it's similar to a 3rd world country. Crime rates in New Orleans is ten times higher than Atlanta, with the claim of being the murder capital.

ATL restaurants > New Orleans restaurants no contest

The people of New Orleans are close minded assholes, or at least the 10% not in poverty.

The only thing going for New Orleans is Mardis Gras.

You are on crack, which is not helping the violent crime rate in ATL

I'd rather have no culture than to be associated with the fricking French

I agree about it being a smallest midget arguement but for events and shite yeah NO wins simply because of Bourbon Street. I mean honestly ATL has nothing close to that level of crazy/drunkenness.

NOLA has better restaurants in terms of Creole food. As for variety, I'd take Atlanta restaurants over NOLA's in a heartbeat.

NOLA is definitely more fun to visit, no question. As for permanent living, I would disagree. It's like when you visit Panama City. All that trashiness is fun for a while, but then you just get sick of it.

Any war would have to take ace in NO. Those idiots can't even find their way out of town before a cat 5 hurricane.

And people ask in whiny, nasal voices "Why would anyone neeeeeed one of the military style assault weapons?"

Based on this thread I'd want a whole arsenal if i was within a short drive of either of these cities.
