Look at what is happening in Europe. I guess all of those countries have awful, incompetent leadership as well.
They are politicians. From their perspective, the right decision is whatever helps them get re-elected.

It amazes me that the same people trashing Trump every day can’t realize that this is another example of bloated politicized govt once again failing in one of the few things we really need them for. The CDC’s whole purpose in life is preparing for this....yet we find our PPE supplies inadequate and states totally unprepared. Whoever was Pres would be dealing with the same thing.
And these are the people that are supposed to run our whole healthcare system?
I agree with shelter at home regionals as needed. By the time it rolls around to rural states hopefully the current epicenters will be coming out of it. No need to bankrupt everyone at once.

You can tell the day he got intel that changed his mind and a planned and tiered shut down of the country began.
Gosh that Intel must have been pretty bad since literally every country just had to look at Asia and Italy. Plenty of warnings from all sides while Fox and Trump downplayed the true threat.
I notice that IT Dawg isn’t in here spouting about how this is just the flu.

If what you’re suggesting is Trump was distracted by impeachment last FALL as an excuse it’s ludicrous. He’s the president of the United Stated - multi task.

Impeachment vs Pandemic.... Interesting... Obama’s biggest difficulties was reuniting segregation. Seems legit.

I hear people complaining about "price gauging" for PPE and ventilators. I just heard a former politician call for price controls. That would do nothing but create an artificial shortage on top of a real shortage.
If the federal government isn't willing to take charge of production, prices for life saving supplies must be very high to induce suppliers to ramp up production.

Instead we're getting our arse kicked by this thing because Trump waited too long and is too much of a narcissist to admit he fricked up. His followers aren't making things all that easier either
It's more than just that. It's the fact that the strategic reserve of medical supplies is depleted and they don't know where everything went or even that it's gone. It's that much of our stockpile of ventilators aren't functional because the administration allowed the maintenance contract to lapse. It's that the military's offer of thousands of ventilators has apparently been ignored. States and cities are making requests and not getting supplies while others are getting shite they didn't even ask for.
It's that a governor can tell the president directly that his state needs supplies, and the president replies that he hasn't been asked so it's not a problem - right after he's been asked. And the very next day brag about his administration's response then give us the callous and maniacally idiotic flex that the media is covering him poorly because his press briefings are getting Monday Night Football ratings!
Where's the hidden camera because this joke is not funny anymore.
This has been miserably mismanaged. This is failure from an executive.

You hear vs what you know are 2 vastly different scenarios... What I do know is: we’re currently at .00002 death rate. Ventilators use medical gases which can be multi functional with help from local plumbers/pipe fitters or UNIONS LMAO... THEY’RE LAZY AF AND ARE QUARANTINED ...Back on subject... installation of fittings to support more than one Patient etc... This is being conducted, but you already knew this. There’s no shortage... The only shortage is your knowledge (and about 80% of the people in this thread) of the common cold.

Never said he'd lose to Biden, Biden might actually be worse then Hillary. It's pretty amazing how badly the DNC keeps fricking up

But again... please continue. I find humor in all of this as we continue to fight the common cold.

I didn't realize the common cold had a mortality rate of 3% and could put young healthy people in the hospital
Posted on 4/2/20 at 8:33 pm to Kneehigh
I'm not sure you know how the mortality rate works
Posted on 4/2/20 at 8:35 pm to dawgfan24348
Per million population... according to World O Meter... I guess... not biased just numbers... 18 per million of THE WORLD are dying... IDK... They’re just numbers though. 3% seems really high...
Think about it dude... JFC

The rate we’re going... we’re gonna kill 200 plus million. The world is definitely over.

We haven't stopped American producers from selling overseas so states and cities are competing on the international market.

Competing for what? More cases? More supplies? No States or Cities are competing for anything. They’re competing for compensation. More Deaths = More Compensating. They’re wanting people to die. This shite isn’t hard to figure out. You’d have to be dullard not to figure this out (not saying you are btw).

Th mortality rate is per the number of people infected. Granted, we only know who has been tested so the 1% to 2% is probably high but only because there are a lot of people infected that we probably don’t know about.
The reality is if you get sick and are tested positive there is a 1% to as high as 3% chance you won’t make it.
Since the testing plays such a huge role in mortality rate its better to look at the death numbers which have been about 1000 per day the last 3 days or so. Granted they could’ve been due to other factors and attributed to CV...but still that’s pretty significant.
