The only ones angry, are the sky screamers about people not getting in their bunkers. The ones that are angry, think this is going to kill 1M Americans this year. The ones that are not angry, but rational...understand the impact of this government control on our lives, freedoms and the economy. I get that you hope for the worst, but I live for the best. Damn, there's going to be at least 1 more death reported tomorrow in Georgia when the noon update comes out here (GA daily updates)
This afternoon one of my best friend's MIL who has been hospitalized with covid19 for a week has died. She was elderly, and had diabetes. It's up in Northwest GA, and was one of the first 20 or so people diagnosed in the state. Can't really say much more than that.

You’ll be quarantined soon enough. Coming to Athens tomorrow and will be statewide most likely. It’s funny how if you read all the way back literally every point IT Dawg and Deeprig argued two weeks ago has proven wrong.

If seniors can manage to star away from younger people there is one positive about having a great mass of young people getting infected early. Those people will also gain immunity early and be unable to infect later on.
I'm 71. I live alone and I no longer work. I have the luxury of being able to isolate completely from the herd and wait it out.

The talking points have apparently changed. Now I see Trump's angle that Peter Buck was asking about a few pages back.
Now that Trump is onboard with shutdown, the left is slipping out of it.
Now the Left is whispering realisms that were being attacked a week ago.
This will be fun to watch and the DOW will be up 2000 points tomorrow.

I haven't been posting in this thread really...but, what exactly is it that you think has been PROVEN wrong? Is the long term effect of this thing going to shake out somewhere in the middle between fear-mongering panicky bitches and "do-nothing cuz it's gonna pass without incident"? Yes. Neither side of this debate can really claim a victory based in reality, but both sides will claim victory based on the real results being either better or worse than the other side said.

There is emerging chatter that the anti malaria drug has been successful at slowing and treating COVID 19. If true and not internet bullshite this will turn the tide quickly. Let’s hope this is accurate. It’s already FDA approved and a generic too...so no need for trials.

Whiz...i get that you are in one of the more at risk demographics and I doubt anyone here actually wants anyone else here to contract and die from this virus. The fact is that all either side of this argument can do currently is speculate and claim empty victories based on incomplete data. I have seen both sides use the same piece of data to support their own narrative just in this thread.
The only truth we can see at the moment is this. People who are at increased risk and prone to panic will panic. People who are prone to dismissing everything as a nothing burger are going to continue eating nothing burgers. Some of both groups will get sick and die from this virus and those who survive will live in a different world once this is over.

They’ve already started it at UW hospital to anyone admitted with COvID. It’s called hydroxychloroquin and doesn’t really have side effects (other than typical ones for medication - nausea, headache, etc). Many other hospitals are going to follow UWs lead.
Should have some US results by end of the weekend. The numbers coming out of France and South Korea are very positive

I think that is in part due to the fact that the Chinese govt is in the process of kicking foreign media out of the country in order to report whatever numbers they wish.
While I agree that the worldwide death toll will be less than the folks who are panicking would have us believe, I would remain skeptical of any news reported out of China by Chinese sources or even foreign sources known to be sympathetic to China.
