The media is shameless. They said that Trump calling the virus the "Chinese Virus" was racist. Is it racist to call the West Nile Virus that? is it racist to call the Spanish Flu the Spanish Flu? Those were the origins of those diseases.

No deal. False premise. Trump claims only he can shut the country down or open the country up. He's wrong on both counts. He can only issue disaster declarations, issue guidelines, and so on. The arguments against Trump were that he spent several weeks playing golf, attending rallies, and other than the China travel ban, making dishonest or misleading statements like:
January 30: “We have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. And those people are all recuperating successfully.”
January 31: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. We have a tremendous relationship with China, which is a very positive thing. Getting along with China, getting along with Russia, getting along with these countries.”
Febuary 10: “Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away."
Februay 26: “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”
Feburary 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”
March 6: “Anybody that wants a test can get a test.”
Trump's lies will be immortalized in history. It's all out there on video. Fox can hide it to those who only watch Fox but fortunately that's not the entire country.

I didn’t think it was racist. The bigger issue for me, is that some people took it as an excuse to act in a racist manner towards Asian people. So if we could avoid that unnecessary racism in one more way, why would we not do that?
And trump did come out and say it was unacceptable to act that way. I think it could have just been one more preventative measure to avoid saying it in the first place. Just my opinion though.
And I know it was mentioned already, but the Spanish flu didn’t originate there. Just was the first place it was reported since they were neutral in WW1
