2018-19 InfluenzaU.S.

By combining data on hospitalization rates, influenza testing practices, and the frequency of death in and out of the hospital from death certificates, we estimate that there were approximately 480 deaths associated with influenza in children during 2018–2019.

There's definitely no stopping it, but the key is slowing it to where it doesn't overwhelm our hospitals.
For example, China's makeshift hospitals are actually closing down because the growth of new patients has slowed down enough to where they can actually treat patients.

but only small fraction of infected needs hospital. We already know the hospitalization rate is very flawed at the moment.
We already know it is everywhere now.
Wash hand more frequently, use sanitizer more frequently, if sick stay home, stay away from other sick people, if you are in a vulnerable demographic, take more drastic measures.
But shutting down schools and businesses and sporting events for this is bullshite and if you disagree with me, you're wrong.

We definitely need more data. Its very incomplete.
We know the hospitalization rate was approximately 0.45% with H1N1 (CDC numbers:257000 with 57,000,000 cases)
We also know death/hospitalization rates of H1N1 were far less discriminating with age distribution LINK
Eighty-seven percent of deaths occurred in those under 65 years of age with children and working adults having risks of hospitalization and death 4 to 7 times and 8 to 12 times greater, respectively,
Yep. And I agree with Tucker's monologue last night, this is a friendly wakeup call from God. What if the next one is as deadly as h1n1 but with the contagiousness of covid-19?
After this blows over I will be stocking up on all kinds of shite for the next one that might actually be catastrophic.
But this one, it isn't.

It is a flu without a vaccine.
Why do you think everyone gets flu shots every year?
Hell... you and I have probably already had a different strand of the Corona virus in our lifetimes.

This is so unbelievably ignorant.
Obviously the fear the media pushes isn’t great, but to act like this is the same as the normal flu is arguably worse.

There really isnt a normal flu. The vaccines change every year.

It's a virus with no vaccine, a higher mortality rate then the average flu, and is spreading like wildfire. So yeah wanting to contain has nothing to do with politics or hysteria

Who are you replying to?
Did I say any of these things?
But you are incredibly naive of you don't think politics hasn't played a part in the coverage of COVID-19

This has potential to be far worse than any flu season we have had since the Spanish one

It has to come close to the swine flu first. 2009 was pretty bad.

That part is incoming. That flu didn’t overwhelm the health care system in China or Italy as this one has done in China and Italy. That’s because this is far worse if not handled properly, and we haven’t done a damn thing properly so far.

What would president DJ have done differently, and please be specific and include dates you would have done X action. Please also use the privilege of hindsight that I am granting you. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I am ready to be educated.

Started widespread testing exactly as South Korea has done. As of now, we still can’t do that.
Should have already shut down all large gatherings, especially no later than for this weekend. As of now, that hasn’t happened.

What about schools, businesses, government operations? And on what date would that have been done?
