I have two....but I am retired and they are both out of the house. Have been for awhile. That said, I have had 6 or months worth of Emergency Fund for many, many years, well before my kids were out of the house. I probably had the emergency fund since they were in grammar school.

Again, I am not saying it is easy. But, if you run out of money right now and have a car repossessed, or lose your house, or have to use the credit card to buy stuff, you will wish you had not eaten out as much, or gone to the movies, or gone on less extravagant vacations.

With that in mind, my wife went to Italy for 24 days on vacation 7-8 years ago, and when this Coronavirus thing gets out of here we are wanting to go to Switzerland, or Austria shortly after the next Thanksgiving to see the Alps and go to the Christmas markets.
Choices we made years ago will allow us to do that kind of stuff with no worries. We pay cash for our cars, just bought a lot in NC in the mountains overlooking Lake Chatuge. You can live for today and sweat the rest of your life, or you can build and plan for the future and still live fine today.

The key is investing early. It makes a ton of difference.

(We also THINK we will be able to leave my kids about $500,000 a piece when we are gone. My son is excellent with money and he will be very well off. My daughter is not as good, but she will be fine, too. She lives in Amsterdam, and is dating a Dutch guy. He's a great guy and they are notoriously frugal.

By then you should be able to go back to normal and just having to worry about Aloha Snackbar killing your family in the Christmas Market.

He shut down travel to China and put together a task force when only 2 people in the US had it and his "top epidemiologist" was saying that it was not a big deal for the US. He quarantined those that came back from China and the ACLU shat all over him....
Democrats were all over him for the travel ban to China as xenophobic and then pissed on him for not consulting more people when he banned travel with Europe. He tried to get a Stimulus bill passed, but the House Democrats stuffed it with socialist and climate agenda stuff. The Senate democrats delayed it another 6 days. He allowed corporations to do the right thing before taking authoritarian rule on them, or woulda been shite on for that. The death toll from this thing is going to be less than the flu 2 years ago and we fricked our economy for it. Now you want to do this every time a new virus (thousands a year) come out....You are out of your fricking mind. You hate America because OMB. It's sick, its worse disease than Corona, it's called TDS.

All of this. There's really nothing else to say regarding how President Trump responded to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Trump's opponents can site all the doomsday predictions they want from various advisers but no sitting President is going to take action based on the most extreme opinions/worst case scenarios.

President Obama didn't do it/took a measured response and luckily the Swine Flu Pandemic ran it's course and the economy rolled right along at a steady pace. Obama was fortunate that a compliant liberal media supported his every whim.

Flash forward and President Trump has been under a vicious attack from Democrats and the MSM from day 1 of his administration to the extent that there were impeachment votes being conducted in Congress at the very time that Trump was having to determine our Coronavirus response. Trump also took a measured response but acted much more quickly and decisively than did Obama and was immediately attacked by the left for shutting down travel between the U.S and China and later Europe.

Meanwhile the posters in this board with TDS have the nerve to suggest that Trump was slow to respond. And compare the U.S. situation with tiny nations like Denmark and Austria who have homogeneous populations. Our death rate remains significantly lower than the world as a whole and a year from now once we do enough antibody testing to have representative sample there's no doubt in my mind that there will be millions of people who have been exposed who did not die and will be counted in the denominator of the equation.

Georgia DPH is totally shitting the bed on reporting.

They just updated their total hospitalization number with a 442 increase over 24 hours. The highest previous one day change was 134. The previous three days have been under 100. Then they just drop this bomb.

Their disclaimer is "Patient information is often incomplete and DPH works to complete the records, so data will change over time."

They can't go back and amend previous days so they just slap new shite to the running totals, and make day-over-day tracking almost impossible.

Take a look at this to see what I mean...

Does anyone think the local media will hold them accountable? Hell, they hate Kemp, so you'd think so, but their desire to foment panic is even stronger than their hatred for Kemp, and this kind of sloppy data reporting is exactly what helps the media scare the shite out of people.

Edit #2- The had a similar "data correction day" on March 30th when the day over day total of all tests only went up by 2, but new cases went up 449. It's not mathematically possible. I call it a "data correction" day.

Another Covid lie...

This poor lady died of diabetic ketoacidosis but because she was covid+, she is being counted as a GA covid death.

For those who don't know, diabetic ketoacidosis is not simply diabetes as an underlying condition. Diabetic ketoacidosis is the last thing that happens to a diabetic person before they die. What a heart attack is to heart disease, is what ketoacidosis is to diabetes. It happened to a friend of mine, he was lucky to survive.

I don't know what you've been watching, but a lot of these countries didn't get their first confirmed case until mid/late February or March....They also have a larger population density as a country than the US. I get that we have some big population density in cities, but just pointing out facts of when they got it and population density as a country.

And since they are more densely populated and smaller, doesn't it stand to reason that it would spread faster and play itself out faster? I mean, why in the world would they be wondering why we haven't worked our way through it? Because we are a larger, less densely populated country, maybe?

And where is Corona hitting us hardest? The more densely populated areas. The larger, more populated cities, right?

Why would other countries wonder what is going on here? Can they not figure it out?

And...I am still waiting for a link that says other countries are wondering what is going on here.

Exactly as President Obama was under a vicious attack from Republicans and Fox (not to mention extreme alt-right outlets) from day 1 of his administration.

See how that works?

Trump was also taking golf trips in February and holding rallies...so he clearly wasn't so "distracted" by impeachment. His statements minimizing the virus are all on video and easy to find...unless you think the liberal media doctored the tapes.

But OF COURSE he wanted to minimize and wish it all away for a few weeks. He owns hotels and resorts for goodness sake! Not to mention, he had a vested interest in avoiding a stock market crash...not because he cares about the average person and his/her savings, but because of concern about impact on his reelection. He shifted when advisors began warning him that high death rates would not be good for reelection.

Trump is a likely sociopath and a con artist who has done a wonderful job of culling a coalition of religious hypocrites (how could any self-proclaimed evangelical Christian NOT be a hypocrite to even be in the same room as Donald Trump?); the working class racist voting block; so-called red blooded patriots (most of whom can't answer questions from a Civics and Government 101 test) and the amoral portion of the ultra-rich (his TRUE beneficiaries - especially in his own family).

He knows that he has to be re-elected because he will spend the rest of his life, once out of office, facing numerous state prosecutions -- not to mention civil suits. He's got to pack as many courts as he can until that time!

Cuomo, De Blasio Resist Calls to Close New York Schools

FLASHBACK To March 3: De Blasio Asks New Yorkers To Ignore Coronavirus, Get On With Their Lives

Thank goodness for the good sense of the liberals....am I right?

But OF COURSE he wanted to minimize and wish it all away for a few weeks. He owns hotels and resorts for goodness sake!

And tell me what DeBlasio and Cuomao's motivations were...I mean they are not at the epicenter of Coronavirus in the united States because of their actions. Why aren't you placing a healthy amount of ridicule and blame on them?

Wait....so FOX news equals NY Times, LA Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, etc?

Would you mind pointing out which of the conservatives and/or FOX News called for Obama to be impeached a month or so after being sworn in? I must have missed that.

Jan. 30, 2017: Days after President Trump takes office, attorney Mark Zaid tweets that a “coup has started” and “impeachment will follow ultimately.” Zaid often deals with government investigations and clients in the intelligence community.

A few months later, still in 2017, Zaid tweets: “I predict @CNN will play a key role in @realDonaldTrump not finishing out his full term as president” and “We will get rid of him, and this country is strong enough to survive even him and his supporters.” Zaid also tweets that “as one falls, two more will take their place” and the “coup” would occur in “many steps.”

and it goes on and on.

You guys keep talking about how Trump lies, but always ignore the lies we have gotten from every other President and politicia. In your world is it something novel or new whan a politician lies, or do you just slurp up everythingsaid by your favorite Presidents/politicians?

Presidents have been lying since the dawn of time.

Remember the Bay of Pigs? (Probably not, it was a long time ago) You name a President and we can probably point out numerous lies they told.

Except for Honest Abe, that is.

Could you imagine the investigations that would have happened if Benghazi occurred during Trump’s Presidency?

To me that was a much more Impeachment offense than anything Trump has ever dreamed of.

Especially when American citizens were killed with the guns that Obama allowed to flow into Mexico as a "tracking operation". Bengahzi was another one.....and they wanted Hillary to be in charge of the entire country.

I was not a big Trump fan before the election. In fact, I didn't vote in 2016 because I just couldn't bring myself to vote for either one of them. But....Trump, while not perfect, has turned out to be okay. Not great, but he has done a lot of what he said he would do, which is more than I can say about most Presidents.

\\

Why would they? Obama had done nothing worthy of impeachment.

Trump's already done more worthy of impeachment than Nixon. The only difference is that 40 years ago, we lived in a different world. Trump is able to flaunt norms and maintain the belief that he is above the law because he has no one in his party with the cajones to challenge him. If he had to deal with independent minded, patriotic Republicans like Nixon did - people who valued the law and our institutions above one person or party - Trump would already be gone.

Can you imagine any past President getting away with routinely funneling business, including government meetings, to hotels and resorts that he personally owns? Talk about violation of the emoluments clause.

The level of enabling and excuse-making is mind-boggling.

Absolutely. I do wish he was more careful with his words but I feel like he is doing a pretty good job. Let’s hope his next action is to start bringing our businesses back from China and push them further toward fair trade.

Yawn. Investigated, what, about 5 times now and there is nothing to put on Hilary or Obama. If there was, you better believe something would have been made of it.

Keep stretching... Benghazi...Hilary's email server...Vince Foster was murdered by the Clintons...Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya...Q Anon...pedophile rings run out of a DC pizzeria...

I think a mandatory IQ and civics tests, with cutoff scores as a requirement to vote, would dramatically change this country for the better.
