Three words: quality of life.

This is also high on my list of priorities. After putting in the time, being separated from family and doing Afghanistan (what a hole), QoL is important. Short term it'll be about ensuring we can afford whatever school expenses we'll have the next ~8+ yrs but I plan on spoiling momma, stepping up my bass fishing game and finding upland game every chance I can. Oh and I almost forgot, recording some music with my old band from Athens.

Cheers fellas and thanks for the feedback! I wouldn't typically hang it out there like this but my decision could drive a very fast exit and I need to cast a wide net.

Merry Christmas and Go Dawgs!!

Gulfstream is based out of Savannah. They pay very well and would be interested in someone with a USAF background. If you look into it and are still interested, I could put you in touch with a headhunter.

Hinesville...I'd be interested in what the options are.

Were the mechs you suited over unionized civilians or enlisted?

Enlisted. Being a maintenance officer was about the best career choice outside of flying. Flying is cool but the leadership and management opportunities on day one are incredible. Plus you're not stuck with the same mission your entire career. On day one I was responsible for over 100 technicians and learned what it takes logistically and organizationally to generate bombers and nukes and it only got better from there. I've had the good fortune to work with a ton of great Americans. There is the occassional trouble child but the vast majority are awesome. Whatever I do, I will miss the my airmen.

I'd move to savannah if I could.

Ditto on Atlanta. Don't do it. Unless you enjoy shite pots of traffic.

Look into east cobb. Good schools and good demographics. Close to Lockheed if you land a job around there.

It's easier to get into UGA from an area that's not loaded with top tier kids though.

Dealing with unionized aircraft mechs in the private sector will be a learning experience.

Nice avi...you like PRS I see? I'm partial to Strats. I assume you play? Been in a few bands over the years. Really miss jamming.

I play a strat
I have had a few folks call me out on it, so I guess I should just take a picture of my gear and use it. I love the look, not so much the tone, or price of a PRS. I'm looking forward to the new year and getting back at it. I can only take a month or so off, before it is time to pick it back up.

my FIL retired years ago from the USAF and got a job at MCG (or whatever it's called now)..the state medical school/complex in augusta. He worked on flight simulators in the service, but was a very handy "fix-it" guy and got a decent paying job and now is retired with 2 retirements, one from the USAF and the othber from the state of georgia.

would definetly check into the medical complex in Augusta and there's Emory in Atlanta.
