New storm doors for front and back doors. New front door. Sand and refinish the hardwood floors throughout the house. Gut the master bath and put in his and her sinks and cabinets (so I will have room to put my stuff). Starting in March and hope to be done by football season.

Whats the best thing to put down to control weeds? I don't know the type and I'd actually have to take pics to show yall. I'll put down some Scotts for the grass though.
Scott's Halts is the pre-emergent I started using, so far so good. I recommend getting the Scott's spreader for easy measuring and dispursement. You won't have to do math in your garage.

Another thing, are the snap in gutter covers (the mesh type found at lowes) worth it?
My house has them, they are better than nothing, it keeps stuff out of the gutters, but the leaf litter doesn't just wash/blow off. You still have to get up there and knock them clean.

The house has rose bushes in the front bed. they are not very full,
Put this down when they start growing again, and they'll go crazy. It works so good you'll regret even putting it down.
Also, chop them in Half ... now, before it starts to get warm..... it will encourage denser growth when they come out of dormancy.

And remember that Roses like to be pruned regularly, makes them grow fuller, so the wife can plan on regular fresh cut flowers on the table.

Look for something that has prodiamine. Barricade is the big brand but they're multiple generic options. Just make sure you water it in after application.

One more thing about roses, if they are in shady spots you'll need to spray them regularly for fungus. Also that could be the reason they are spindly.
I have two rose bushes and the one in slight shade (shady side of mailbox) is spindly as frick. Regardless of the pruning and fertilizer. You'd think adaptation and whatnot, it would get bushier in shade to create more leaves to collect more light, but no. It's like it wants to die. The bees won't even try to pollinate the flowers. Nature is weird. It's like they have a conspiracy against me having the nicest mailbox in the culdesac.

Advise for weeds in beds? My lawncare company does touch the beds, He said to put pre-emergent in them, but it has to be a bed safe kind from a nursery, not the Home Depot or Walmart kind. I spray them with Roundup, but they fight through it.

I spent 5 frickin years working on my disaster yard. It was looking pretty good but we couldn’t stand the subdivision life any more. Now I’m back to square 1. Going to turn an old cow pasture into my yard now I guess.

Ashland? I paid 2.38 per block at lowes for mine. 3500 is a shitload of blocks.

I paid $25 for a skidder tire rim. Makes a great fire pit but uses a lot of wood to get it radiating. I wish I could drill a couple of holes in the sides, but I don't know what could go through it.

Check a welding shop or someone with a blowtorch.
