Keep him but in another job. Overseeing the equipment for example or cutting the grass.

If there's anyone on this board who has had the taste of Coach T's dick in his mouth...

Arr you an advocate of Joe T II? I assume you are.
Posted on 1/18/14 at 8:49 am to Sanford&MunSon
When I was in Kollege , he was Assistant S and C coord and also watched over the Mac. He was ok overall. He is not my pal or anything. With that said, whether I like him or not does not make the opinions stated as fact any more or less bullshite.

I respect that. Do you think he stay or go?
Posted on 1/18/14 at 9:27 am to Sanford&MunSon
I don't think Joe T is ever going to go. He is Georgia through and through. They make change his role at some point but I have a hard time seeing them fire the guy. I don't want to see him fired either. I do think he gets a lot of blame that he doesn't deserve. But whatever is going to help the program the most, I support.

Conch T is a hard arse and has that old school tough aura you can not manufacture. The AD has chosen to put him as a figurehead of the old school toughness and let's him manage the day to day stuff. Consultants and the younger guys under his dept are the ones making the actual programs for workouts and nutrition...etc. he is involved, but he is not making all it up on his own. He has been involved with S and c to some degree for a long time, so he is not some lackey UGA relic thrown in there to make the liquor mafia happy...

Personally I would like to see some major changes to the s&c program, but I'm not saying fire Joe T. If the admins want to find him a new role with the program that's cool.

What changes, why, and based on what knowledge?

I am ok with that. He apparently is everyone's golfing buddy and I know that is real important. I am like you, I just want them to change the regimen up but more importantly I want them to start enforcing and monitoring player diets. Make the skinny kids eat a few steaks and maybe stop the OL from shoveling pizzas down their gullet at ECV. The OL I know have no diet in particular to follow and eat like they're storing up for winter. Other programs keep the kids at a specific weight range.

Buck, I understand that Coach T may be a good UGA guy and an assistant for years. But he was promoted from within and you have to be blind to not see the difference on the field under his direction. He served as our video coordinator for years and we somehow always seem to be unprepared in games? I don't want to have to worry about our player's being out of "football" shape and unprepared over the next few years. This season is vital to our success moving forward and I think CMR and CJP understand this. They will have to address the injuries, unprepared players in games and players seemingly out of shape this year.
This should be the first thing we do in a new era of UGA football. Pruitt will have some input with his experience at, what is considered to be the best S&C program in the country, and I hope he opens CMR up on this issue. I have no problem with keeping Joe T on board, but we could bring someone in to run the S&C that has a more innovative approach to today's football S&C practices. It has to be a football oriented program and I think when you look at programs like UCF, MSU, or even Stanford we see that we could easily get an up and coming S&C coordinator for the money we pay Joe T. That's what I'm getting at.
OT: UCF has been amazing in rush defense over the past 4-5 years. I would like to get their LB coach Summers. Here are the result's in stats RushD

S&C is much like learning in general; there is a limit to what can be achieved in the classroom/weight room. The rest requires homework/individual discipline to continue learning the offense or defense and personal conditioning.
Having someone like Joe T to push players in the school environment is great but probably the most important aspect is instilling discipline that helps players develop the personal drive to continue working hard outside the classroom/weight room. This is what I loved about Aaron Murray. Murray was probably not our most gifted QB in terms of natural talent/physical ability but there was no one who worked harder on his game beyond what was required.

Question for the board:
Has anyone ever actually attended a Georgia football workout? Do you know the exercises the players are doing? Do you know what their diets are (I know they had a program change when we brought on a staff of dietitians a few years ago that monitored their diets pretty close)?
It just seems like there are people on this board who complain about it being old school when you probably have no idea what they're doing.
