It's gotten to the point where it's sort of nostalgic and any Dawg fan under the age of 25 pretty much remembers hearing it right before games their whole life, but I agree that we could probably do better.

We still have two NC's in the last three years, and three straight undefeated regular seasons, so yes it's a nitpick.


The stadium food service is a travesty. There's high school concessions better than Sanford stadium. I think the popcorn machines are just display models, the last several popcorns I got served tasted like they were cooked last year and bagged up in the pantry. Completely stale. The drinks aren't cold, those need to be iced down at least 2 hours before kickoff. Employees with no idea what they are doing. I could go on. But that's not really a nitpick, that's a legitimate gripe that has been a problem for decades.

while that's certainly something to gripe about I don't know if it's a program nitpick, since there's not really anything we can tweak to make that happen (short of just throwing to one or two guys 40 times a game).

We've had plenty of guys since Terrence that had the talent and ability to get 1K....gibson, reggie brown, tavarres, malcolm mitchell, AJ, Mecole, Pickens, etc...it just hasn' happened. Half of those guys were probably due to injury, not really anything we can do about that.

The in-game experience is lacking in quite a few areas.

-Horrible wifi. It's 2024...like it or not many people are going to be on their phone whenever the ball isn't in play yet sometimes you can't even receive texts until after you've left the stadium
-We apparently have a drunk first grader running the replay board up in the box. For some reason I've yet to figure out, whenever they do show a replay they'll start and rewind abotu 5 times from the getgo. It's enough to almost get nauseous. Then mercifully they may end up replaying the actul play, or they may not even capture the part of the paly people want to see. Who knows? It's a crapshoot. If there is ANY chance the replay would not be in our favor they don't even show it at all. There's probably at least 10 different cameras in the venue watching a play at any given time and the TV broadcast shows all of em...you're telling me we can't show the same ones on teh big board?
-Lack of out of town socres on the ribbon screens.
-Dumb fricking entertainment in between play time. I don't really care about the "find the hairy dawg behind the fries" sobriety test becuase hey it's fun for kids. But twisted sister karaoke? fricking embarrasing. Cringey as all hell.
-We need to stop saying that the spell Georgia cheer is "one of the greatest traditions in all of college foootball"
-Just about every single other venue I've bene to, and i've bene to TONS, has an area by the stadium with either statues or plaques or memorials or SOMETHING that celebrates past accomplishments/teams/coahces. We don't have shite. Granted we're landlocked pretty solidly in the heart of campus so I get that space is at a premium but still
-The lower level south side has practially no optiosn for food now. They did the massive renovation to widen the concourse which is great for congestion, but they took out all the food/beverage with it. Now they left behind a couple of little powerade coolers with a person at it if you need a drink but if you want food you're pretty much SOL unless you want to take a hike.

This is an Athens thing in general on gamedays, even dowtown. The carriers don't want to put up the extra antennae and bandwidth just for 6 days a year of "surge". I don't blame them. But I do agree it sucks. There's certainly something UGA could do about it in the stadium though. They could put up their own wifi infrastructure around the stadium and keep their own dedicated leased lines with the carriers to handle the bandwidth. So you'd open your phone and new wifi discovered- Sanford Stadium Wifi. Log in with your ticket number, here's 9g service. Add 50 cents to future ticket prices to cover it. These things are not hard to do in 2024.
