87-85 2OT
We really played like a team in the 2nd half. Previous games were the Edwards/Crump/Hammonds show.
Almost EVERYONE contributed tonight.
Jordan Harris had a good game back from suspension, provided much needed depth.
Hammonds: 21 points, 10 rebounds
Edwards: 16 points
Crump: 12 points
Gresham: 7 points, 4 rebounds
Harris: 9 points, 4 rebounds
And the MVP:
Sahvir Wheeler: 9 points, 8 assists, 2 steals
Sahvir hit a shot to send it to 2OT, and then hit the game winner, while providing assists in clutch moments.
Defense still needs lots of work.
If we can keep improving we can make some games competitive.
We play #11 Memphis on January 4th

So nice to have a true point guard this year.

After watching turtle for so long I almost forgot what it was like to have a true playmaker at pg. Feels good.

It was refreshing watching our team perform best with Edwards out of the game.
This is not to say that I think he should play less. I’m just happy, because this is the first time all year they have proved they can play without him.

Sahvir needs to cut down the turnovers, but that is expected from a freshman, his speed and body control bring a whole new dimension to our offense.

SMU is a quality win. Huge win. Definitely needed that game. I wouldn’t be shocked if they made the NCAAT.

They haven’t played anyone yet. They looked good tonight. We will see.

Yea, they have only played the #3, #13 ranked teams, and a 8 win SMU team.

Pretty sure he was saying SMU hasn’t played anyone, which is true.
They’ve played Georgetown, and that’s it. And they lost by a good chunk of change to the Hoyas.

Wasnt able to watch the game because of a Christmas party, but I took a look at the box score, which led me to take a look at the upcoming schedule, and I want to know who we pissed off in the SEC office.
Jan 4 @ #11 Memphis(I know we scheduled this ourselves)
Jan 7 vs #6 Kentucky
Jan 11 @ #12 Auburn
Jan 15 vs #21 Tennessee
Jan 18 @ Mississippi State
Jan 21 @ #6 Kentucky
We got absolutely no help from the SEC in the scheduling department. Thats brutal, and even Mississippi State is pretty descent. If we get through that stretch without drowning, we could rack up some wins in February.
