So, there should be some regression but I feel like he will be a good OC again. There’s a lot more talent with a deep OL (which he didn’t have before) Running game is really good, OL is elite, WR are great, TE are elite, QB should be great (I think Stockton has the advantage now)

My concern…..Bobo’s perceived lack of TE usage back when he was OC before. Surely, with Bowers in the fold and all the TE talent we’ve recruited, he doesn’t go backwards. Right?

We had like 1 or 2 guys that were ever close to anything we have now as receiving threats. Orson Charles and Aaron White and maybe Jay Rome but he didn’t play much. But none of those guys is anything close to as talented as Bowers and probably not even Delp or Spurlin etc.

Bobo's offense over a decade ago was a prostyle I-Formation system that was very, very different that CFB today. Nothing suggests he would run anything similar to that now. And Orson Chalres got plenty of balls btw. Also it wasn't until we had Brock that we really, truly started going there more often.

Orson Charles's final year: 45 catches for 574, 5 TDs

Isaac NAuta's best year at UGA: 30 catches for 430, 3 TDs
Charlie Woerner's best: 11 catches for 148 yards, 0 TDs
Fitzpatrick's best: 10 catches for 95 yards, 1 TD
Darnell's best: 28 catches for 454 yards, 2 TDs

So from this we can gather:

1) Kirby has never gotten the TE the ball until 2 seasons ago
2) Having a megaelite talent at a position will make you more likely to utilize that position.

I am not worried about throwing to the TEs at all.

Why are we assuming Bobo will go back to 2014? He worked in the current system during its height and I’m sure he absorbed it. He will put his own spin on it, but he just spent the last few years getting his Doctorate from one of the best.

Bowers is a wee bit different than guys like Orson Charles and Arthur Lynch. I don't think usage will be an issue.

TE 2 is Oscar Delp.

Tight ends are getting the ball.

His TEs before aren’t what we have now… I wouldn’t throw to them either!

What was so bad about 2014?
Avg 41.3 a game, that’s highest in UGA history. That’s with Hudson Mason under center and Michael Bennett as the number 2 with Chris Conley…. they avg 50yds more on the ground and 100 less through the air.. Bowers alone demands 50-60 yards.

I don't think Peter used 2014 as a specific literal year to go back to, I think his point was "why do people assume he's going to run the same offense he ran a decade ago"

Peter, can we finally get the low down on what Bobo's medical condition is or was that took him out of the game a few years ago?

As an outsider, It looked like stress had its way with Mike. I have seen it before with excutives that care too much about shite they cant control. Worked with one chick that gave herself bells palsy out of worry.

There is stress with Kirby but its not unknown...

is it supposed to be a secret? A google search shows plenty of articles. Sounds pretty awful but I'm guessing he's all better now if he's being given the OC gig

This. I thought Bobo was good as an OC for us, and he just spent quality time with arguably the best in the business. I also expect that Kirby had a say in how the offense was going to be run before hiring Bobo as OC. Kirby has spoken a lot of the value of the mobile QB and the type of offense we've run recently, so I'm guessing he's going to be demanding more of that to one degree or another.
