Appreciate what she has built and wish her the best.

Now it's time to go get a coach to get us over the hump. Love to see a coach from Washington, Cali, Arizona, or Oklahoma/State come in. Our resources have to dwarf many other programs.

Definitely a program primed to explode because of what she built. Should be a plum position for any coach with a young roster clearly capable of playing very well. Let’s see how Brooks manages the search

Helluva run. DGD. Hopefully we continue the success she has built over the last 2.5 decades

I hope he doesn’t get lazy and just hire from within. I’m not attached to softball but it wouldn’t be a good sign going forward.

Agreed. Way too many national programs in the sport that can be pulled from and with a semi-prestigious program and excellent facility already in place. Go make a hire to win a title

He isn't mcgarity so I'm hoping his #1 qualification won't be "do I know them or do they have connections to UGA?".

So, you don’t like Kirby?

Or you love Crean?

That’s our top 2 sports programs and 1 is successful with ties to UGA and the other is shite with no ties to UGA but a history of succeeding from nothing
I’m not defending McGarity, but your post is crap.

Did you get COVID or have a stroke? Cause your posting the last 12 months has been atrocious....not the Whiznut or djs level shite, but I expect more from you

Thats how I feel. Champer did a great job almost building this program from scratch and getting the team to where it is now, but she is far from a great in game manager, probably had reached her ceiling in college softball, and can be upgraded if we just spend a little money.

Our softball facility is absolutely terrible compared to most top programs. It’s right at the top of the list for renovation whenever non-football programs get their budgets back.

As for the hire I wouldn’t be surprised if Tony Baldwin gets promoted, I wouldn’t be too upset about that tbh

Of course I do, love him. That hire has nothing to do with mcgarity though. Kirby was a known superstar in the assistant coach ranks for about a decade and if we didn't make the move immediately AU or SC would have come calling and we'd have been stuck with muschamp.

Don't love him no, but I think he unjustifiably shat on considering the black and white of what he's done here. I think he certainly deserves another year while many don't. We went out and tried to find the best availbale coach we could and came down to crean and matta and I couldn't be happier with how taht search went, that's how you're SUPPOSED to do a search.

Here was my post:

mcgarity so I'm hoping his #1 qualification won't be "do I know them or do they have connections to UGA?".

-It's known that mcgarity really liked mullen and had mentioned him as a top target when richt left (someone mcgarity knew)
-We replace an all time legend in Suzanne yoculan with her assistant jay clark. He stunk so we went out to try to find someone else and did so that had no uga ties. She didn't work out so we hired a UGA grad with zero coaching epxerience aside from youth. We've been lapped by most of the conference
-we replaced a legend in andy landers with..yep, one of his assitants who had never been a HC before. In six seasons she's finished higher than 4th in the SEC one time.
-Scott stricklin was only hired becuase in 9 seasons at kent state he got them to omaha once (going 1-2 against SEC teams btw). He's been here 8 seasons going on 9 and has pretty much been a failure by any metric you can think of.

Sorry if my posts haven't lived up to the lofty standards you've set for me but it's pretty obvious to anyoen paying attention that mcgarity wasn't exactly the type of guy so turn over every stone and scour the country to find the absolute very best coach available in every sport we have an opening for. Even with Kirby there was no real search, it was basically "you better get this fricking guy becuase if you don't he's gonna win big somewhere else and likely at your expense". The only impressive hire mcgarity has really made was crean who's book isn't finished being written, he hasn't even started a 4th year yet.

It’s not that bad. Florida and Oklahoma have palaces. LSU and A&M are both really nice. Everywhere else tends to be about the same level of fine to meh. Turner needs some attention but it’s not bottom of the barrel

On the outside it looks okay, but the team areas and indoor batting area are severely lacking. Additionally the press box is in pretty terrible condition.

Asked a softball group on Facebook about potential replacements and front runner should be Kenny Gajewski from OK State.

Coached under Walton at Florida and won two Natty’s. Proven recruiter who turned OK State around in last five years...Plus he beat us last week and out coached Champer (no disrespect meant).

He’s young and will be around for a while. Plus he’ll always play second fiddle in OK to Patty Gasso.

Throw the big bucks at him Brooks and make a splash with your first big hire.

Also mentioned were Dot Richardson from Liberty and Brandon Elliott from VA Wesleyan.

I’d love to see Georgia hire from outside, but if I had to bet I’d say they are just going to promote Tony Baldwin to head coach. The last few years it has seemed like he has been being groomed to take the head job. Hope they make a killer hire, but I’m not confident they will go for a big time proven coach.

JMU’s head coach was interviewed in OKC, not sure if any assistants at the big names schools there were as well.
