Looking at the final AP poll votes

Georgia got one #3, mostly #4 votes, a few #5, three #6 and one outlier. Marietta Daily Journal reporter John Bednarowski voted UGA #8, behind LSU, Clemson, OSU, OU, UF, ND, and PSU. Just thought it was interesting that the lowest vote in the country was from Marietta GA, and he put us lower than not one but two teams that had fewer wins than UGA, fewer ranked wins than UGA, and lost to UGA. Georgia had 4 top 15 wins, Florida and ND had one top 15 win combined.

Outside of Carlton White the MDJ sports writes are clowns.
Posted on 1/19/20 at 12:20 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
I'm surprised they still exist. They used to be a very large newspaper, then ATL swallowed up Cobb County. AJC was still delivering the Atlanta Constitution in the morning and the Atlanta Journal in the afternoon. Then they merged them into just the morning paper, the AJC. That was MDJ's chance. Slant more right to fill the nook that AJC abandoned (The Journal was more right, the Constitution was more left, the combined AJC remained Left). But the MDJ decided to out-left the AJC and they just continued to split the market. AJC didn't mind, they had many other markets. But the MDJ doesn't have that luxury. Also, the AJC had 10x the amount of coupons and there were alot of newspaper subscribers that did it for the coupons alone, never even read the paper. MDJ should have slanted right, afterall this was Newt Gingrich and Bob Barr's district, that's what the people would have wanted... they would have cancelled their AJC in a heartbeat if given another option.
So, the fact the MDJ exists at all in 2020 is very surprising to me.

Why does he have an AP vote? Like what is the criteria to get one?

May he and his progeny develop the herpes...

Looks like he has worked everywhere in a short amount of time. And going from St louis to Marietta sounds like a huge step backwards.
He will probably be doing the Windward Parkway tennis association announcements next.

Very strange. He had UGA ranked 4th at the end of the regular season and then dropped
them to 8th after the SECCG and just kept them there. He ripped the defense for it's performance (nevermind that Clemson gave up 628 yards when they played LSU)
He also didn't mention anything about our Sugar Bowl victory in his final ranking "commentary"He's also a big G5 guy and into alot of transitive property theories to justify his idiocy.
I emailed him asking to justify UGA's ranking and I'll let you know if/when he responds.

He does a youtube podcast with Hutson Mason every Friday. It is on Cobb County Football. He might be clueless about anything over 12th grade.
Hutson should give him a hard time for the next 7 months for that one.

This is his dumbass response
quote:
had UGA ranked eighth after they lost to LSU.
The only teams ahead of them that lost bowl games were Ohio State and Oklahoma.
That's why.

I've sent a follow up email asking for a more detailed and thought out explanation.Moving UGA down to 8th after LSU makes no sense and keeping them there after
the Sugar Bowl was flat out absurd.
Can't wait for his snippy/smart arse reply.

He had UGA at 4 going into the SECCG and dropped them to 8th after the loss (didn't
get this explanation)
He kept them there because only OSU and OU loss ahead of them during the playoffs/bowl season. He obviously gave no credit for the Sugar Bowl win.
Lots of strange moves and he obviously has
some other agenda here.

Bednarowski is from the Midwest...he's partial to Notre Dame; thus, his personal ranking of ND @#6 (when they actually finished #12) is an indication of his bias. No surprise, really.
However, to place UF & ND (both of whom were beaten by UGA and have records less than UGA) above UGA is ridiculous.
