Do you? The modern presidency is considered to have begun with FDR.

But even if you want to limit it to the last few years

Invasion of Ukraine

Kung Flu lockdowns

Chinese real estate

Ill clarify and say this century

Ukraine invasion at least made sense due to ethnic groups and what not

What does Chinese real estate refer to?

COVID was dumb if you want to count that as politics

There was zero reason to start a war with Iran.

Iran started the war in 1979, and it has been ongoing in fits and starts at a fairly low intensity ever since, so the war isn't part of this century. It's a reasonable point to argue whether they had a legit casus belli, but the conflict has been ongoing for nearly 50 years. It's just gotten a lot more active on the US' part for the first time since 1988.

Government mandated shutdowns of entire nations and most of the global economy definitely counts as politics.

Chinese real estate: to maintain the illusion of constant, massive growth, the Chinese government engaged in - and encouraged - rampant overdevelopment of, and speculation in, real estate. It has been collapsing and is wiping out huge amounts of wealth and causing pretty significant economic disruption. Think of the 2008 subprime mortgage mess on steriods.

I respect people's points of view on disagreeing with action in Iran.

But saying there was "zero reason" is intellectually lazy, and I personally find it insulting, as a member of this board.

What do you have as a reason?

#1 state sponsor of terrorism
Nuclear development
Oppressive regime

I could list more of the talking points.

You can argue that's not enough reason, and you are entitled to your opinion.

But that's not "zero reason".

They aren't developing nuclear weapons in fact, trump had the chance to accept terms the Iranians offered that were more destructive than the Obama deal and just chose to go to war instead.

What metrics are you using to call them the #1 state sponsor of terrorism? That is pure media talking point that means nothing.

China, North Korea, countless other countrys have a oppressive regimes. We don't frick with them...mainly because they have nukes....ergo you are basically telling Iran if you don't want the US to frick with you, develop a nuclear weapon.

It's all just so dumb.

Amen

The goal posts keep getting moved on here though. As if any of us are experts on the Middle East.

Let’s te focus

Shouldn’t it count for something that Trump knows this is wrong? , or at least pretended to know, for decades ? And actually ascended to power exclaiming that this is wrong?

And suddenly he does the opposite

What is this?

Who is running this country?

Clearly not the goldfish’s favorite Patriot

I do love that even some of Trump’s most ardent supporters are now realizing what a lot of us traitorous, evil RINOs knew the entire time. Trump is a con artist. That might be the only good thing to come out of this Iran situations.

Five minutes ago…..

quote:

We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end - and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into," from his 2025 Inaugural Address.

5 minutes later…. Hes lying about 175 elementary school girls that got bombed/murdered at school on day 1 of his bosses war

Who could be okay with this?

Would you extend this courtesy to someone in real life if they lied to your face this hard?

MAGA died when they acted like they did t care about the real Epstein files being released because trump was against it. Now he and AIPAC are funding a dude that left the Republican party in 2016 to try and beat Massie.

Meanwhile psychopaths like Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz have his full endorsement.

I voted for trump 3x and feel like a fool.

Don't be surprised when they go after Cuba next too.

That’s right. Your patriotic sons, daughters, and trans kids that sign up for the USA are actually guarding something else

That is the effect, the cause is well over a century old

Back then Europe needed oil and did not have it. Churchill knew an oil Navy was more effective than a coal Navy. Hitler knew Germany had no oil in her borders. Standard Oil (US) and British Petroleum (UK) effectively killed the Persian Empire to recognize a bunch of nomads. Fast forward to the 1970's and the dogs we put in to guard the oil turned on us. For those of you that lived through the oil shocks of the 1970's like I did, we got to witness the greatest transfer of Merican industrial wealth in the history of the USA in a single decade.

The net result is the Middle East does not like us and probably never will. We also have put off meaningful research for at least 1/2 a century since for a replacement energy and become a massive debtor nation in the process. This is the fault of BOTH parties as each side blames the other instead of taking the unpopular step forward to decrease the debt load instead of increasing it.

If Merica were not prolific drug consumers, the drug cartels would not be an issue. If Merica were not prolific oil consumers, the oil cartels would not be an issue. If we wish to fix either, we must fix ourselves first. I for one am in full agreement with Jefferson here, the price on our sons and daughters in such a conflict is a price too great!
