Interesting commentary from Kirby eluding to the "disease that creeps in to UGA" where the athletes start believing their press clippings and thinking they're better than they actually are. Makes me wonder if a few of these absences are due to him calling a few guys out for not chopping wood and making a few examples internally.

Seems to me like he's trying to send a message to certain players and the team as a whole.

Kindley, Mays, and Thomas didnt seem to improve much this season (to be fair to Thomas, the bar was almost impossibly high).
Hill had a good year versus 2018. But it still was a solid step back from Gaillard (probably not fair to compare a sophomore to a senior, though).
Simmons and Landers were supposed to break out based upon spring/summer/fall comments.
Fromm didnt improve his on field results at all. I presumed an improvement in stats without split reps but it was the opposite.
A lot of players have to own their film. You dont make huge leaps Sunday through Thursday. The hard work is done in the offseason.
I like the disease comment. I agree that there was too much "average" in our offense this season.

He was probably talking about it being specific to UGA because BAMA only had two guys sit out.
Honestly, it really disturbs me that BAMA would only have two guys sit out when they must have at least 5 first round-esque players on their team while we have fringe guys sitting out.

I dont think that many UGA guys sat out.
Most were injured.
A few were academically ineligible.
A few may have broken team rules.
Wilson and Thomas are the only 2 confirmed "sitting out".
I have no insider knowledge. I think "sitting out" is overblown because of the undisclosed reasons for underclassmen who will not be going pro who didnt play.

I think some of those not playing for "undisclosed" reasons were spreading this "disease."

I read it to be a shot at a bunch of guys last year that left early and did not get drafted in the top 3 rounds or at all...

I don’t think he’s concerned about last year.

More in the way of not repeating last year's mistakes...

But last year is connected to this year. Think he learned a lot from the sugar bowl last year, and it played into how he handled the sugar bowl this year.
