According to his in game performance! I don't even see how you're arguing this right now.

I seriously question if you even watched the games. You're telling me he didn't impress you and show his talent VS South Carolina, Mizzou, or Florida?

fumbles at CRITICAL moments in the game.

Did we not just establish he only had two fumbles?

You think he cracks the top 4 at Alabama?LSU?AUburn?.
...not for a second

I think he definitely would at both LSU and Auburn.

I'd take Greene all day long over him @ #3 BTW

It's Green.

How many college running backs are? I don't think Marshall is in the same league, he's just fast.

Did we not established that his fumbles were at the most
critical moments of the game?Like on the last drives vs
Vandy?

Yes I watched em all season and I don't think he's
talented enough to be an SEC RB...maybe he might
work at UK as a 3 or 4

LSU or AU

With their incoming recruits? No way in hell...

Listen,if he had a breakout performance last yr like
GREEN did vs UT I might consider the guy as someone
we could put in a last resort but we CANNOT afford
to have a guy like that as #3 or #4 with Marshall coming off his injury and Gurley's history of injuries.

Why in world do you think we recruited both those guys as hard as we did?So we could RS them?

RD Dawg,

I agree with about 95% of what you are saying, I just think you are understating his talent just a little bit. I also thing you are overstating Green a little bit. I came away from the season with the impression that Douglas was a little bit better (insert "but but but fumble" here)

What do you suggest we do with Douglas? Process him and open more cap space?

Personally I see him being moved to fullback eventually regardless of what anyone says at the moment. Hicks and Hall are both juniors and as far as I know there is no one else behind them. He has enough talent to contribute, but not enough to take away snaps from the five that will be in front of him. I think Green will wind up serving a utility role with special teams being his primary role.

Douglas averaged 4.1 a carry and Green averaged 5.6 with both getting carries in virtually all of the same games behind the same line with the same Oline and the same attention on the running game with all of the receivers hurt. Green although small was a lot more effective in every game except 1. That being said, the coaches still used a hobbled Gurley over both so that says a little bit about both of them.

Or it says a lot about Gurley. 4.1 and 5.6 for a freshman in the SEC is pretty good. I'm too lazy to look but I don't think Crowell did much better.

So we're just going to bury the kid permanently for that?

that's a joke. You literally don't have anything to back that up.

quote:

With their incoming recruits? No way in hell...

LSU:
Magee, Fournette. LSU has Hilliard and Darrell Williams as well. I think Douglas could push them.

Auburn:
Corey Grant- ?
Cameron Artis-Payne- ?
Roc Thomas
Kamryn Pettway- ?

No reason to think Douglas couldn't compete with them.

He did. We don't win several games that we won last year without him.

To make sure we don't have a shortage like we did a few years ago. Gurley and Marshall may both be gone after this year.

Did we not talk about this earlier? Douglas got most of his carries in short yardage spots or in situations the D knew they would be running. Of course his ypc would be smaller. You can't just look at stats.

Agreed. It says more about Gurley. When healthy he is the best RB in college football. I think everyone knows that.

Thats becuase Green was on more outside calls and Douglas was up the gut. It makes sense based on their respective statures and ability, hence, the stats.

What about Douglas to TE? We are kinda slim there... We have two Freshmen coming in but Douglas is a special Dawg!

Douglas is the better overall back compared to green.
But green is currently the better runner. He can run outside and inside for positive yards.
Douglas is good inside. and good inside bouncing runs outside.
The reason that douglas' ypc is so low is because we ran him on 2-3 sweeps per game and probably net 0 yardage if we were lucky. green has the quickness to reach the edge where douglas does not.

Douglas is a way better blocker and better receiving target. but running him on a sweep is a wasted down (throw him into the flat or on a wheel route if we want him outside).

For what it's worth, Gurley fumbles too.
Only his fumbles typically go out of bounds.

Just something to chew on when questioning the freshman's. hands.
