Youtube - UGA Sports Live (prerecorded)

OL- Warren Ericson
TE - Ryland Goede
RB Kenny McIntosh
WR - Kearis Jackson
QB - Dwan Mathis
DL - Trayvon Walker
OLB - Nolan Smith
ILB - Nakobe Dean
S - Lewis Cine
CB - Tyson Campbell

Having highly talented freshmen make leaps when they improve their understanding of the playbook and what offenses are trying to do is not a shocker.
Smith, Dean, Walker, and Cine are all top 50 recruits from the 2019 class.

Hearing great things about Ericson would be huge for the 2020 OL. We faced so many injuries on the OL the past 2 seasons, it is imperative to have championship level performances week in and week out regardless of who is healthy.

The same for Kenny McIntosh. Assuming that we are a traditional run heavy offense, I see him being the #2 back this year.

I expect Kearis Jackson to be the starter at the beginning of the season (Blaylock coming off ACL).

According to Donnan, Dwan Mathis is the fastest QB that we have ever had on the roster.

As for why I like to listen to Donnan, he was raving about Cager last summer. It doesn't take him a lot of snaps to see guys who stand out.

Coach Donnan knows talent, no one can argue that. I pay close attention to what he says when covering stuff like this.

Here's his "surprise" players for offense and defense in 2020.There is some duplication LINK

Warren Erickson
quote:

He’s a guy who goes to work every day, does his job, has worked out hard, is a technician that knows what to do, and is very smart. He came through for us in the bowl game

Tommy Bush
quote:

watch out for Tommy Bush. He's a guy who can make plays. He got hurt last year, then worked hard on the scout team. When I watched him two years ago on the first day the freshmen got there, I was sitting around in the office with Jim Chaney, and he was talking about the young man’s potential

Adam Anderson
quote:

watch out for this guy. I mean, he really can be a big-time player. He was a five-star guy.”

Lewis Cine
quote:

this guy is balls out all the time, and I just feel like those two guys, Anderson and Cine, are going to be big on defense."

He also mentions Devon Whitlock and Jalen Carter as Freshman to watch.

I suppose it depends on whether he's taking your money or giving you money.

Jermaine Johnson in his senior year too. He was solid. Recently tweeted that he’d never been as physically good as he is now. Looking forward to it

Do we expect Cine to be an upgrade on JR Reed?

I know that he has a higher ceiling and the potential is there.

But will 2020 be better at that spot than 2019?

I 100% expect Cine to be an upgrade....and that is saying something. What I’ve heard and seen, the guy is an absolute baller. Good times ahead!!

I hope

While I didn't much care for JD, I agree with you regarding the talent aspect of his coaching abilities.

Reed was Walter Camp All American, coaches 1st team All SEC, top 3 finalist for Jim Thorpe award, to op 5 finalist for Bronco Nagurski trophy. The big number is 42 starts for UGA.

Dont get me wrong. I'm high as a kite optimistic for Cine. He shows all of the signs of being an upgrade. But only 1 start at safety.

Reed was on the bad end of the LSU highlight reel. It will take an athlete like Cine to improve in that type of big game performance that we need. There are just so many differences in starts between the two. Cine is going to have to work his rear off to avoid any dropoff.

Encouraged by the fact that Cine became more involved as the season went along. He looks like a true superstar in the making, and I'm betting he makes more big plays than mistakes this season.

Especially at safety.

A mistake often means 7
