If TCU goes down too what else needs to happen?

Teams that would get in before Bama

USC 1 or 2 loss conference champ

TCU (even with 1 loss)

Oregon 2 loss conference champ

Ohio State

Maybe 2 loss conference champ Clemson

LSU if they were to upset Georgia

Not necessarily. The conference champ is something that they take into consideration. Nothing is guaranteed except the 4 best teams according to the CFP committee. Remember, Ohio St. got in over B1G champ Penn St. when they lost to them head to head because they were perceived as one of the 4 best.

I hope not. They need to take an off year.

LSU is the roadblock that keeps Bama out. If they lose to Georgia they do have 3 losses, but would you really let Bama in the playoff after LSU beat them and actually made their conference championship? How do you penalize LSU for having the same record vs Bama in the regular season and beating them head to head? I think both of those teams get left out in that situation.

1 loss Ohio State won’t be jumped by 2 loss Bama

No TCU is going 13-0, Michigan is going 13-0, and we’re likely going 13-0 so that’s three spots

You still have USC who has two ranked games left and a title game left for a spot and even if they lose Ohio State has better wins and record than Bama. Hell even Tennessee might be able to claim a spot over Bama

1. DAWGS (In with loss)
2. Michigan (In with loss)
3. TCU (Could they get in with a loss)
4. USCw (lose and its Ohio St.)
5. Ohio State
6. Bama (Would get the nudge over a one loss TCU. So it is possible)

There’s a route for Bama to get in, but it requires absolute maximum chaos.

-TCU loss
-USC loss
-Probably need Georgia to win because a 1-loss Georgia would beat you out

Even then it might not happen.

I mean, that scenario listed could happen, but it’s highly unlikely. A 1-loss Georgia or Ohio State both get in over Bama. So would a 1-loss Michigan if they lost to Purdue.

There’s probably an exact sequence of events that could get them in, but it’s hard to imagine.

If Georgia and Michigan win their CGs, then it will be us #1
and Michigan #2.
If TCU and USC win next week they will likely be #3 and 4. The only thing is the committee thinking Ohio State should be #4 this Tuesday. But if USC wins out they should move into #4. Bama will likely end up 6th.

This week should be:

1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. TCU
4. USC
5. Ohio State
6. Alabama
7. Tennessee

Georgia, Michigan, and TCU should all be in, even with a loss next week. USC needs to win next week to lock it in, if not Ohio State. Thats it.

Why are people so infatuated with the topic of bama being able to back into the playoffs? It's not happening. Zero chance, less than zero actually. It isn't happening no matter what else happens.

Yep and if Georgia, TCU and USC win out, we will have all conference champions in the playoffs.

I also think people are missing the lead here. I’m trying to think up a scenario where we miss out on the playoffs and I’m having a hard time finding one.

Even if we lose, I have a hard time seeing the committee putting Ohio State in over us. Bama wouldn’t even be a talking point at that moment.

Now that LSU isn’t a threat to take our spot, I think the conversation would be us vs. OSU, but I don’t see a way the SEC gets left out of the playoffs. I really think we’re in regardless.

Nope. Undefeated Dawgs/TCU/Michigan, even if they lose CCs, then USC even they lose CC or OSU, whose only loss would be to Michigan. Everyone else is out.
