Personally I believe in finishing what you commit to but I think his reason was:

There’s no one to throw to except Pickens. There’s no run game to make defense respect the pass. There is no offense in general. Same as last year.

They would have dropped his draft stock.

And no one to block or run the ball. It would have been all on him.

If you really think the receivers are the main issue I’ve got a lot of real estate on the coast of Kansas you may be interested in.

You shitting? Had nothing to do with WRs. It’s all on Mathis. I think it was stupid to sub him out. Let him go through the growing pains and come back out in the 2nd half.

Now you’ve taken away his confidence completely letting a walkon take his place.

Bring him back in and let’s do it.

My prediction was 13-7 at half, knew we’d struggle. Not that bad right now, come out and roll. OL needs to grow a pair

We all wanted Mathis to be a good story, but he was awful.

Yah, we really did. Feel terrible for Mathis. He may never get another shot to play QB at Georgia again.

Rohan Davey looked totally overwhelmed his first start at LSU. But he eventually became a slinger. Hopefully Dwan has a similar experience

CKS' job is to win games. Period. Pulling Mathis was the right move. He stuck with him for an entire quarter and a half and we couldn't move the ball until Bennett got in there. The move paid off and we scored points and eventually had a comfortable win after not being able to score any (offensive) points until the end of the first half.

I'm all for building confidence, but at some point you have to put the guy out there that can help you win the game. Mathis came back in in mop-up duty and got some real snaps to gain that confidence back. It worked out well for everyone, IMO.
