How would you feel about a commuter rail running through UGA campus?

Personally, I've wanted this to happen for years but I'm curious about how some of you older folk would feel.
Flagpole
ETA: If you have some time and are interested in such things, you should definitely give UGA Prof. Jack Crowley's Downtown Master Plan series that he has been publishing through the Flagpole a read. If this city could gets its shite together and get on the same page, it could be the jewel of the South (not that it already isn't but just work with me here).

I still want a brain train from Athens to Atlanta. UGA, Ga St, Ga Tech, and a few other schools would be connected. Thought it was going to happen for awhile.

The sad thing is that it's actually a very feasible, very beneficial project. Powers that be around Athens just can;t be bothered to figure it out.

Was supposed to happen for a long time but never materialized (MARTA sucking the fattest of cocks has not helped).

Here is Crowley's first article on Light Rail in Athens, in which he discusses the ATL-ATH connection that never got going.

Would be one of the greatest things to happen in any of our lifetimes.

Honestly, it'd be one of the greatest things ot ever happen to UGA football. No more pissing and moaning about the drive after a night game or sitting in traffic on 316. Fans would hop a train in fricking droves just because it's easy and they could pay less for a roundtrip ticket than they would spend on gas.

Well yeah that's one of the first things I thought of. Just get absolutely shitecanned and pass out the whole way from Athens to atlanta. Boom.

Not to mention the ease with which one could drunkenly ride to Downtown from Athens. New Braves stadium had best gets its transit shite in order if they want in on that honey pot.

I live like 5 miles from Turner and went to the game saturday. I got online to look at taking marta bc I figure it'd be a breeze. I'd have to drive to the nearest marta station (ok, no biggie), get dropped off like a mile from the stadium, then take a marta bus to get dropped off at the lot. That's a lot of frickin hassle, not to mention no way I'm waiting for a frickin bus at 11pm in that area. I just ended up driving. Well, driving there anyway.

C'mon, Jeff, what's a little imminent domain in exchange for TUNNELING A frickING ROAD UNDER PART OF OUR FOOTBALL STADIUM SO A TRAIN CAN CARRY DRUNKS TO AND FROM THE EAST ENDZONE.
IT'S MANIFEST DESTINY!!!!!!!

Turner is a clusterfrick to travel to and get out of. I just hope the new stadium gets that shite figured out well in advance of breaking ground. No excuse other than gross incompetence.

Yeah, I know- I've been following this thing since I moved to Athens. I'm amazed at the ineptitude of this city's leaders. I don't understand it at all.

I don't get why Nancy Denson is going to get re-elected. I don't get why Tim Denson is her only opposition.

The Braves Shuttle line blows, just walk from and back to the GA State station and get off at midtown
